Qwpzxjor1
I think Ward-Prowse is a brilliant player. Having him back from injury will strengthen their squad and allow them to rotate. They are going to need a season without many injuries though. If you add our or Arsenal's injury list to that Southampton squad, they'd be somewhere around where we are. As was said earlier - they've not changed their back 4 so far this season, which is brilliant for consistent performances, but should that have to change, you're suddenly shocking the system a lot more than a team who has got used to steadily rotating. Not knocking what Southampton have done so far, but they have been very lucky with injuries and it will be amazing if they go the whole season without one or two key ones. Tomaszk
I heard they only registered 20 players for their PL squad and four of those goalkeepers! Got a load of players under 21 they can use but still crazy if correct.
The_Rev
They list 28 players in their first team squad on their official website (sauce). The cut off point for 'U21' players this season was a date of birth of January 1st 1993. Only four players younger than that (Lloyd Isgrove, Harrison Reed, Matt Targett and James Ward-Prowse) have played for Southampton in the Premier League as far as I can tell. Of those only Ward-Prowse can really be considered a first teamer, Reed and Targett have one minute each of Premier League experience, Isgrove has less than ten. Ward-Prowse appeared in every game before he got injured in September.
Isa
Targett is quite highly rated over there apparently though. He's played all the cup games.
chappy
I dare say he's the kind of player we should be aiming to bring through our own academy.

Yoshida started a couple of games - before Alderweilend took the place.
Condimentalist
I got Southamption at 25/1 for top 4. If they get it I win £100. I could cash out now though for £25. Should I?
penguin
I would, guaranteed money. Couple of really tough games coming up and I really can't see them finishing above United and Arsenal.

Yes, all day long. They will come about 7th or 8th. Remember West Brom under Clarke? Exactly. Top 4 will be chelsea, city, united and probably arsenal. The_Rev
Cash out. Southampton have had the softest run of fixtures of anybody in the league so far. They have only played three teams who finished above them (8th) last season and they have lost all three of those games. Now they finally have a difficult run of fixtures I suspect they will slide down the table and end up somewhere between 8th and 5th by the end of the season.
