Ignoring all the big name players they’ve given stupid contracts to they seem to have lost the understanding that if you can control midfield you go a long way to winning a game. Even now they’ve signed Ugarte who can tackle but not pass and they’ve lauded Bruno for Hollywood passes that sometimes work but won’t keep the ball and works for himself. No one who can control the game and tempo. They seem to be frowned upon. We are lucky they didn't listen to Ferguson's advice of going for McGinn, he would have been exactly what they needed in character and ability. Said he doesn't see that in the senior players there anymore. And he'd be right. But the game's changed. Gone are the days when John Terry turned up at Chelsea after getting into the first team squad in a Lambo and Denis Wise pinning him against a wall telling him to get rid as what's he done to earn that. Or the senior players at Manure absolutely laying into Ronaldo in training for diving. These young players now rule the roost. It's why the Boehly experiment at Chelsea needs a management structure (and I dont mean just coaching but full on structure) to install that professionalism into a squad that has no 'older heads'.
