Imagine if they get hit for 7 again

Man United could be heading to Anfield this weekend without:

- Maguire
- Martinez
- Lindelof
- Shaw
- Malacia
- Casemiro
- Eriksen
- Mount
- Fernandes
- Sancho
- Amad
- Rashford
- Martial

So they have a chance then. :)

I’m not sure how a league winning squad can be described as being in disrepair, if so then it’s even more miraculous. Not something to beat him with a stick about.

You seem very adamant in your opinion, but Fergie stopped looking after the future and only cared about the now... A perfect example of this was the Van Persie signing, it was brilliant for him and helped him win the league however RVPs decline literally began the next season.

Fergie only cares about Fergie. It's his fault the Glazer's own the club now, all over a racehorse.

Why has Fergie remained glued to the club ever since he stopped being their manager if he doesn’t care about them?

He was even watching them play home and away during covid.

It’s clearly a myth that he 1) doesn’t care for the club and 2) left them with a squad of junk when you look at the facts.

Clearly a myth in your opinion 😅 if he loved the club so much why did he take his bosses to court over a racehorse..

Fergy and Mrs John Magnier were very good friends at the time along with their co-ownership of the racehorse Rock of Gibraltor.

Fergy was manager of Man Utd. Mrs John Magnier was a shareholder along with JP McManus at Man Utd.

After their relationship broke down over apparent ownership of the racehorse, after it retired, relationships became strained. Fergy thought he was entitled to 50% of all future stud fees that Rock of Gibraltor generated and that's where the fall out came when it transpired he wasn't. He began court proceedings.

No one forced MJM or JPM to sell their shares in Man Utd, it was their choice. Glaziers just happened to be in the right place at the right time.

Fergy could have left Man Utd and they may have both remained shareholders, but greed and misunderstanding played a dominant role in the saga. It doesn't just fall on the shoulders of Fergy - all 3 are to blame.

As the saying goes: 'There are no friends in business'.

I'm aware of the story, and yes all 3 are to blame but it highlights that Fergie didn't put United above all else, he put himself above all else

I'm not complaining. The Glaziers have done wonders for Man Utd.  😅

Every cloud has a silver lining and all that.

The logic underlying this comment seems to be that it was possible to predict when van Persie would decline (12 months after he signed) and that Ferguson was selfish for signing despite knowing he would soon decline.

In fact, nobody knew this, nor did many people predict it. At the start of the following season he was the most expensive player on FPL at more than £12m but still the vast majority of teams had him. The standard expectation was that he would continue in exactly the way he had in the previous season.

He was 29, he was hardly for the future.... Very unlike Fergie to sign a player so old.

Nobody said he doesn’t love United, just that he loves Fergie more.

I'm not saying he was 'for the future' (obviously he wasn't) but it wasn't crazy to believe they would get several years of top performances from him. Some players decline; other players continue playing at an exceptionally high level throughout most of their 30s (in recent years, we can think of the likes of Benzema, Giroud and Ronaldo). van Persie happened to be an extreme example of the former category, entering a precipitous decline after just one season. But it was not certain to happen, and indeed was not predicted by really anyone even at the start of the season when the decline happened.

I never said it was certain he would decline, was I said was, it was an unusual signing for Fergie to make and there was no future beyond a couple of seasons, yes he could've played well for another season or two, but him along with 35 year old Ferdinand, 40 year old Giggs and Im pretty sure there were a few others over 30, Vidic for example.

Fergie left behind the worst possible squad for another manager to take over.

As well as other parts of the club being weakened, it was a complete cesspit and it's been proven by their last decade.
