I think in general with Conte and Mourinho are they have worked with several previous clubs before. Both had similar exit comments/interviews prior to being sacked by the club which overall was "You don't know what you're doing."

This is probably too much reading into it, but Levy seems to prioritize the business aspect of the club far before the footballing side of the club. The unwillingness to depart with Kane, the flip flopping of managers, transfer policy, and footballing direction. He made a critical error not backing Poch and then made two high profile errors with the sacking of Mourinho and then not backing Conte. Much like United did - they need a major shake up of footballing operations to stand a chance at not falling down the table.

I commented on this with the whole Purslow/Gerrard nonsense. There needs to be an alignment and segregation between finances and operations (CEO/board)/footballing direction (presumably a DOF and recruitment staff)/and coach (tactics/player development) in order to produce a sustainable and quality product. When the finances/footballing direction become too intertwined - you get Purslow/Gerrard - Levy/Mourinho-Conte - and lower in the table Radrizanni-carousel at Leeds. Conversely - while players should fit what the manager is trying to do - when they get too much direction, then it is also bad. See Gerrard here. See MON here.

Ironically - you can see a better structure play out with Wrexham. Of course - they have spent loads of money with R&R but it was smart of them to appoint Fleur Robinson/Shaun Harvey and while they may have made some calls to help convince some of these players because of their celebrity status - they have, for the most part, left the running of the club to the professionals instead of being too involved.

You can't really compare Wrexham to Spurs, but you can Brighton, which is run like this. Tony Bloom leaves it all to the footballing Executives to run the club, an it obviously works.

Yeah I just used Wrexham as an example because of their show and you can see the bad side of it with Spurs and Leeds and their all-in series.

Series great for the business but has been poor for the football.

Spurs have bought badly and don't really have the investment to turn it round without selling Kane.

Not saying they aren't an enticing proposition as clearly they are and their commercial revenue is so high that they'll have money to spend for a while even without big investments from their owners....

... But I wouldn't be leaving us or Brighton for Spurs at the moment. You'd want somebody else to steady the ship, and it appears quite a few managers are thinking the same. Worth speaking to them and seeing what they have to offer..but not quite worth taking the jump yet, they could be staring at mid-table and no Kane in a years time

I'm seeing noises from Brighton fans that they'd like to roll over for us on Sunday to prevent Spurs getting Europe.  They're still feeling very much (and rightly) aggrieved from their game with them a couple of months back.

Any manager coming in is going to want assurances that Kane won't be sold because let's face it without his goals they would be on a hiding to nothing by taking the job in the first place.

Spurs are the biggest poisoned chalice in football at the minute.
