Popular Post The_Rev
God bless the Supreme European Court! Fifa and Uefa have lost an appeal against a European ruling that the World Cup and Euro Championships must be shown on free-to-air TV in the UK. In 2011, the European General Court said the UK could keep the events on a list of "protected" events of national sporting interest broadcast for free. It means the two tournaments cannot be sold exclusively to pay-TV firms. Fifa and Uefa had appealed, after saying they could not sell the events fairly for their real value. But the European Court of Justice - Europe's Supreme Court - has now said the original decision in the General Court (formerly Court of First Instance) in 2011 was correct. (full article - BBC) Nice of somebody to remember that football is the people's game. There are a small number of people who one day hope to make everything pay per view who will be angry about this while the rest of us rejoice. At the risk of getting stung by the VT swear filter: **** those guys.

Eames
Uefa won't tolerate a move to a winter WC as it will **** with the CL cash cow. 2022 won't happen in Qatar.
Stevo985 Posted July 18, 2013 VT Supporter Share Posted July 18, 2013 As I've said several times before (and we're straying off topic here), surely the FIRST thing that should be assessed about a world cup host candidate is whether it is actually capable of hosting the event. And having temperatures of 50 odd degrees is a big X in that box. Qatar shouldn't have even been considered, let alone chosen.

I'll take the printed temperature from a news source over what Ray Houghton's arse says it was on the day if thats ok with you. EDIT: Also - ginger irishman looks a bit red when its hot shocker?! BOF Posted July 18, 2013 Moderator Share Posted July 18, 2013 Isn't there an opposite wind-chill thing for humidity in heat? Quick google says the 'humidex' factor. I wonder what that was on the day.

Humidity doesn't make it feel hotter just more uncomfortable. I'm not saying that the game in Florida in 94 wasn't hot or rubbish to play football in, just that to attempt to argue that Florida is/was hotter than the qatari desert in mid july is a pretty daft point of view.

Voinjama
The republic of ireland game in 94 where it was really hot was the Mexico game, not the Italy game. Edited July 18, 2013 by Voinjama
