Jimzk5
On American football, tried watching it again last night, just don't get it. stand in a line wearing 4 tons of armour, throw a ball that's not a ball and then stop for 4 minutes to discuss who's going to throw the ball that's not a ball again. Repeat for 4 hours.

My team was decided by the shirt my wife brought me one christmas. Apparently they only had two choices when she went to buy it, I could have so nearly have been a 49er's fan but she chose blue instead so I'm a glory hunting Patriot. villa4europe
IMO it's great I think a fair few people still can't get their heads around them being fat and having loads of stoppages, it's great for doing other stuff at the same time, usually play FM or work or on here I think if you learn to appreciate the hits (yes they've got pads on but they smash each other, it's harder hitting than rugby) the speed of some of them, some of the catching etc it's brilliant My only issue is that the defenders usually go high, I think in an attempt to knock the ball out, rather than going low and actually making a tackle, some of the technique on tackling is horrific (hence why a lot of it is harder hitting than rugby)
mjmooney Posted January 10, 2016 VT Supporter Share Posted January 10, 2016 I think I've finally come to the conclusion that I don't like sport. Any of it. I only ever liked football where it involved the Villa, and that is obviously becoming pure torture. I can watch the odd bit of tennis or athletics, but wouldn't really miss it if it ceased to exist. The rest of it - golf, cricket, boxing, martial arts, etc. - I positively detest. Next season in the Championship is pretty much make or break. I've greatly lost interest in the Premier League and I stopped watching Champions League years ago. The top tiers of European football is becoming an uncompetitive, commercialised circle w@nk. I'm still as passionate about Villa as ever, though, and the Norwegian league is a welcome break from the above. Ice hockey, baseball, nordic events - still love it dearly. Without any of these, my life would be a little less enjoyable.

Wainy316
I used to watch every live game of football I could, now I just watch Villa and might put a game on in the background now and again.
villa4europe
And me, can't remember the last CL game I watched, or non tournament England game, I'll stick it on in the background for 10-20 minutes if I'm waiting for something else to come on and will check the scores during adverts but I think the only non villa game I've watched all 90 minutes for this season was Real Madrid vs barca, even the Madrid game last night, when bale got subbed off I turned it off

Unfortunately, I'd have to agree. Can't be bothered with almost any of it, I watch bits of the Olympics out of nostalgia for when I didn't realise it was best drugs regime wins. Didn't even get a proper buzz out of the World Cup, and as for the next couple of bought World Cups... I think my post ratio Off Top to On Topic in here must be about 500 to 1. Now my usual pitch for small time stuff. Not quite jumpers for goalposts, but the only light in all of this, it is still possible to get a lift to the away games from the manager

I've always been a fan of sport (pretty much any competitive sporting activity) and it's only really football where that interest has decreased over the last decade (with Villa as the obvious exception). I could quite happily ignore all football other than Villa though the club are doing their best to try and get me to include Villa, too. This for me too. Funny how there's so many of us in the same boat. The Villa situation can't be a coincidence...

mjmooney Posted January 11, 2016 VT Supporter Share Posted January 11, 2016 I've tried non-league, and it felt like a pleasant diversion. No emotional involvement, though.

I tend to stream Villa games (don't attend anymore) and I hardly ever watch MOTD.

The only weekends where I watch a lot of football now are when Villa either aren't playing, or are playing on Sunday or Monday
Genie
Took my 5 year old son to a couple of Tamworth games last year. Popped down in the bus, chips and gravy at HT, couple of drinks in the clubhouse after and then back on the bus. He's not a big football fan tbh but he enjoys the day. He's not been naughty enough yet to be subjected to his first Villa game. Edited January 11, 2016 by Genie
Seat68
I dont really care about any sport, I think this stems from my parents and them not bothering. I came to football relatively late, I love the olympics but everything else, I cant be arsed in all honesty. If my colleagues werent so obsessed with football and they loved music instead, I could probably even get away without even talking about sport at all.
