Ah because I remember when we wiped out Smallpox with soup

It’s fascinating to see these people descend in to this weird mental state.

Regardless of whether you approve of his politics, he was clearly a person capable of thinking, he has a degree in biological sciences. Yet from there, he now thinks vaccination is akin to the holocaust and viruses are being used to trick us in to communism.

I always want to know, does he believe that, or does he think sufficient numbers of us believe it that there is money to be made? He must surely believe it, as there was far more money to be made on the tory scam.

Probably a sparrow hawk.

Certainly likely, I've seen one dismantling a mouse in the garden before now. But the kites are also constantly overhead, looking for carrion.

How pretty much any team signs any player and it’s “how can they afford that with FFP?”

Isn’t it really only being said for Chelsea?  Haven’t seen it for other teams but I may have missed it.

Well if they aren't saying it about Everton, they should be

I dunno.  They haven’t bought anyone for decent money for almost 2 year and got rid of a lot of high wage players in that time frame. They must surely be on a negative net spend over the two years?

They were reported to the PL over it last season, so its 3 and 2 seasons ago that's the issue

It was my birthday last week and one of my mates got me some weird presents, a battered second-hand DVD Jurassic Park trilogy and a snack bowl built into an American football helmet.  Today he admitted that he had 'regifted' them to me, someone else got him the snack bowl recently but **** knows how long he has had the DVDs for.  I don't want to sound ungrateful but I think I'd have preferred if he had totally forgotten my birthday.

Does he have a drug or alcohol problem?

He does often complain that there's too much blood in his alcohol stream but I think he purely just had some tat he wanted to get rid of.

To be honest it's years since someone who's not an actual family member bought me a birthday present of any description so I'd be happy with the tat if I was you.

Did he purposefully give you junk to wind you up? Kinda stuff mates can do under 'bantz' or whatever nonsense it is.

Is it typical that friends give birthday gifts to each other? A group of male friends, I really mean.

Me and my (male) friends don’t. Although in fairness we all turned 40 over the past year so an exception was made then, largely it was each of us buying a bottle of whatever for the birthday boy.

But that’s it, we’re not doing that again until we collectively turn 50 in 2032/33.

I just about know the month that my pals birthdays are in. We've never bothered with gifts etc. We've had a few trips to celebrate 'big' Birthdays though... Berlin for my 30th, Tallinn for a mate's 30th, a night in Macau's casinos for a mate's 40th, etc.

That’s a good alternative to buying presents. I think marriages/kids may have assisted in preventing that from being the case with my group. Just her timings of it, I guess.

I’m not too bad at remembering birthdays. It does help that me and all of my core group of mates have birthdays between the start of May and the end of July. Those three months used to be a really messy time when it came to birthday drinks. When the group was at its most populated, I think it worked out to be a heavy birthday piss up every week and a half. It’s fine in your twenties, but y’know…

There are fewer of us these days, so that makes it easier. Plus this year with older heads and each with an eye on dealing with fewer hangovers, we’ve been combining birthdays which seems to work fairly well.

I use Amazon a lot, I pretty much never go to the shops for non-food items anymore. Cheap and delivered quickly.

One thing that pisses me off about them though is that they never give you a heads up that your renewal is coming up, or that you’ve paid. It’s very unusual. I just notice it when looking at the bank statement that they took their fee (now £95 a year).

My mates and I used to do something similar back in the day. Somebody got given a copy of the "Crossroads Wedding Party" LP (with a 25p price label on it) as a joke birthday present. Next time it was somebody's birthday it got passed on. This went on for several years (I had it at least once) - and it clearly never got played, as the shrink wrap was never taken off. I have no idea where it ended up (no doubt somebody got tired of the joke and chucked it in a skip).

Worth nearly a fiver now, amazingly (according to Discogs).
