Absolute piece of shit.

Well more accurately its lots of brightly coloured or clear pieces of plastic but yes they aren't very good

I have similar feelings about buying Dyson products and using Wetherspoons pubs etc

My wife bought a Dyson when we were just dating. I'd never seen one before but knew they were stupid expensive. I couldn't believe the build quality - just shitty plastic that snapped together and could easily be broken. I was horrified. Miele is much higher quality.

Not sure about cordless but @Rugeley Villahas always talked very positvely about a Henry vacuum cleaner...

We've got a Henry in work, for bog a standard vacuum it sucks (careful now) very well unless the bag is full obviously. Emptying the bag is such a f***ing pain though

Are people really sold on the benefits of cordless at all?

I plug it in centrally in the hallway and it needs unplugging when I move between floors. Avoiding that and dealing with less power and weakening batteries seems to cost a few hundred quid. It seems mental to me.

It's alright for a quick spill, say, when my son decides to empty as much of the house plant soil onto the floor as he can before I can get to him and strangle* him.

*Sadly this is no longer legal therefore just a joke. I do not believe in violence against children. Although sometimes......

We have a corded vacuum, but they can be a pain to get out and plug in dragging the cord around. The cordless one is plugged in the kitchen and is just handy to get out and have a quick vac around. But I agree, if on a cleaning mission, has to be the corded.

Can't remember if I mentioned it on here but a couple of months ago I started playing football again for a local Saturday team. Was chuffed to be back involved and started my first match for them (in goal) in a cup game. We won the game and I got man of the match so I was chuffed, however I caught the ball awkwardly very early on and broke my finger. I played the rest of the game as it didn't really hurt, I just immediately noticed I couldn't move it.

Rather than wait in A&E for 12 hours for them to tell me to strap it up, I decided to leave it. I was seeing a physio 2 days later (for a different issue) so I just thought I'd ask him about it to make sure it was just a break and nothing more sinister.

I did that, and the physio confirmed that it was almost certainly broken, just strap it up or splint it and it'll be fine. He also checked it weekly when I saw him for the next month, each time saying it was fine and it would heal, even though it still looked swollen and I couldn't move it.

After 6 weeks I wasn't happy that it showed no signs of healing so I booked in to see a specialist, that appointment was yesterday.

Turns out it's not just broken, it's broken, dislocated and there's a chunk of bone missing. They're booking me in for surgery next week to realign it and to give me a bone graft which will need to be pinned. Also, because it's been 2 months since the injury, it'll almost certainly not go back to normal, and I may end up with a fused finger if it's particularly bad.

So yeah, I'm not pissed off at the injury, I'm pissed off at the physio for making me think it was just a simple break and leaving it so long. I guess I should still have gotten it checked anyway but you'd think a Physio would be able to give you pretty solid advice

Surgery booked in for Wednesday. I think it’s a bigger deal than I first realised.

GA, can’t drive for two weeks, will need the Thursday and Friday off work. I really wasn’t anticipating it being such an issue

That physio has **** up, honestly, they should have politely steered you to other more relevant healthcare  professionals and stayed on topic. It might seem unhelpful, but this is why some medics are "jobsworths" and won't offer an opinion on something that isn't within their professional domain. He's not an expert on that area, and shouldn't have been giving you reassurance, certainly not on the clock in a professional capacity. If a patient suffers such poor advice and so wishes, that's an HCPC referral in the making.

Yeah it’s a tough one. Maybe I underestimated what physios are qualified to do, but I would have thought they’d be able to tell if a finger is broken or worse.

The irony is, I did something similar (but not as bad) when I was younger. I THINK I tore ligaments in my little finger and didn’t splint it so when they healed they healed shorter than they should have so that finger is permanently bent. The difference is I can bend that one fully. So it’s fully healed, just healed in the wrong place if that makes sense.

So the entire reason I asked my physio about the finger was to make sure something like that didn’t happen again. I wanted to make sure it was “just” a break and nothing worse. So even if he’s said “you should get that xrayed” then I would have. But because he reassured me it was just a break I felt comfortable just splinting it and leaving it.

Ah well. I’m not going to do anything to the physio. I’ve used him for a few years for various different issues I’ve had and he’s a top bloke and a good physio. He just **** up on this occasion.

Weirdly it’s probably because I got to know him pretty well that he felt comfortable to give me advice, which has backfired

I thought this was the case which is why I was reluctant with the nuclear option :D I think if I were you and I had a good relationship with the guy, I'd probably at least give him a heads up at your next appointment that it wasn't what he'd said, that you'd needed further treatment, and leave the subtext unspoken of "maybe you need to be more careful". He's got lucky with you, but I think someone could take him to the cleaners if he made that mistake again
