The world’s gone mad. When I went years ago, we stopped at the Etap (think they may be called Ibis Budget now). It was a hole, but it was clean and a short walk into the centre. I'd be shocked if that is £150! Edited May 17, 2022 by Xela

It’s now an Ibis. £262 for one person for one night.

I'm staying in a 5-star hotel in Cardiff for a couple of nights in a few weeks and it's £170 per night for a suite.

Guess I’m staying at the Celtic Manor instead then.
chrisp65
I know its a little early in the year so could be on the chilly side, but have you tried… Weirdly central camping in a nice quiet pretty location?

Lemme check with @Seat68 and see if I can borrow his camper I was kinda hoping for a wee spot of luxury so camping doesn’t quite cut it. Will bookmark that location for subsequent (more clement) visits though. edited to add: the daft thing is that I’ve several friends in the diff that I could stay with but I’m going to see one specific person and I’ve not the time to do the whole social catch up with a bunch of others so I’m doing the trip low-key. Nice view of the queue for the Bryglas Tunnel and if it’s windy you might hit the jackpot and see the queue for the Severn Crossing too

Popular Post chrisp65
I’ve driven the golf course at Celtic Manor. That is, I’ve driven across it in my car. We had a meal there as a thank you for a bit of work we did for them, I rocked up at the main hotel and it was clearly the wrong place. There was some sort of porter and I asked where the clubhouse was, and he pointed across the course and said ‘straight over there’. So that’s what I did I drove straight across, and I must admit I was thinking it was odd, then golfers were stopping and staring. Then as I’m approaching the clubhouse I can see my boss and the guys from Celtic Manor all stood in the bar window, looking at me. I styled it out. 1

Popular Post StefanAVFC Posted May 18, 2022 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted May 18, 2022 Check out the absolute cynical, capitalistic balls on this lot. You can pay for a re-sit for your exam, but only before the exam. if you fail it, **** you, no re-sit (or you can have one but at a ridiculous price) but if you pass it, good for you, but no refunds!!! soz 1 2

Don't they know we're in a cost of living crisis! Well if you will insist on buying ancient gas guzzling antiques what do you expect? On a side note the car we bought for my son carries car tax at £20 annualy. I told him he would thank me when his tax bill came in.... And he did. I did that for years but then worked out if you put a bit of everything on your fork it actually balances all the flavours a bit and veggies actually become palatable (except mushrooms and cabbage). My brother is into his 40s and still has that technique, he orders a curry and eats all the rice dry first then goes onto eat the curry, when surely the entire point of the rice is to soak up some sauce. If he goes to the chippy he eats his fish, then the chips and has a pickled onion at the end like it's a **** dessert. 5 1
