Stevo985 Posted October 4, 2011 VT Supporter Share Posted October 4, 2011 Not being able to find anyone I know who wants to live with me meaning I'm probably going to have to advertise to, and ultimately live with, randoms.
wiggyrichard
Not being able to find anyone I know who wants to live with me meaning I'm probably going to have to advertise to, and ultimately live with, randoms. Could be a blessing in disguise mate. 2 of my best friends brought a house together, the amount of grief it caused them was unbelievable! 1 of them fell behind with payments etc. and caused a big rift. In the end, them selling it (loosing a good chunk of cash on it) was the only thing that saved their friendship. It wasnt only the money issue tho mate, when you socialise and live with someone it means you can pretty much spend 24hrs a day with them and its not always a good thing, you may end up wanting to tear their eyes out...thats what marriage is for! :winkold:
Shillzz
Agree with Wiggy. I'm looking to rent a room out at the moment, but i'm not going to offer it to any of my friends. Not when it's my actual house on the cards anyway.
wiggyrichard
Exactly Shillzz, you have to remeber its your house. If you rent to friends, they get the old ''Shillzz wont mind me throwing a party for 8 of my work mates...he usually goes dogging on a Friday night...'' sort of attitude. The respect for your property isnt there because after all...your a mate. *Just to clarify, i have no evidence to prove that Shillzz does go dogging on Friday nights. Shillzz
Indeed... thursday is dogging night. But you are spot on Wig... I've had friends stay at my house on an informal basis for a few days at a time and i've always (without fail) been glad to get rid of them at the end of the period. A period which is usually followed by an intense cleaning & tidying session. Get yourself a nerd Stevo, the kind of guy who'll spend 8 hours a day flying a Boeing 737 from Gatwich to Montreal in real time on Microsoft flight sim. Edit: Is Thursday dogging night everywhere, because I typed that without reading Eames' post!

Shillzz
I've yet to reach that low an ebb tbh Wig, thought it is the kind of thing I'd happily do in work if I thought I could get away with it.

But I'm nervous I'll end up with a psychopath. My house isn't tiny, but it's not exactly massive, so we'll end up spending a lot of time in the same room so I want someone I get on with. I don't want to sound like a perve (but it's inevitable) but I wouldn't mind a female housemate. Probably a better chance she'd be tidy and respectful There's all sorts of sexism in that statement, in both directions, but I don't care.
