Popular Post TheAuthority Posted March 21, 2019 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted March 21, 2019 1 hour ago, bickster said: If you’ve been using Facebook for a while you have probably noticed that many people “Like” their own posts just as soon as they post them. While this could be viewed as a form of vanity (I mean, really, is it cool to “Like” your own posts?), in most cases it isn’t vanity at work at all. Facebook has made numerous changes to their user interface of late, and one of the most reviled changes of them all were changes to the news feed and the introduction of the Ticker. Now, instead of seeing all of your friends’ posts, you only see a selected few (selected by Facebook of course) showing up in your news feed. Under Facebook’s “Edge Rank” system, friends that don’t “Like” and comment on your posts usually stop seeing them altogether before too long. In order to compensate for not showing your posts in some of your friends’ news feeds, Facebook added the ticker — a box in the right-hand column that lists the activities of your friends as they happen. This is where “Liking” your own posts comes into play. When you “Like” a post, that action is noted in your friends’ ticker boxes, giving them a chance to at least be made aware that you have posted something even if it doesn’t show up in their news feeds. So the next time you see one of your friends “Like” their own post, they probably aren’t giving themselves a pat on the back. Instead, they’re giving you an opportunity to check out a post that might never make it into your news feed. I recommend that you “Like” your own posts as well! My God I am so happy I've never had FB.

You miss what’s going on on the rest of the pitch, like runs other players are making for example. It does my head in. I wish they’d just leave it on that main camera and save all the close ups and different camera angles for the replays when the balls not in play. I don’t think I’ve explained that very well, but meh. The worst is a highlights package that uses loss of weird angles of the goals. Usually on something like “Premier League years” just show me the goal you word removed.

chrisp65
On the inter city trains, don't they close the doors 1 minute before leaving anyway? I've left out of London Pad plenty of times where that train is moving absolutely on the b of the bang of 5:15. But the doors had been closed stopping people getting on for several minutes prior to that. You can't rock up at 5:14 and jump on. They make up for it though, 'cos it's usually running late by the time it gets to Swindon.

Forcing a post into your friend’s newsfeed so that they see it. “Look! Look at my photo of me standing next to the Eiffel Tower! LOOK! I bet you’ve never seen the Eiffel Tower before. Now give me a like” ”Here’s the 9,787th photo that I’ve posted of my baby and it’s now in your newsfeed. I bet you’re so interested to see it. Like?” That seems like vanity to me. I've driven the 07:51 off of Rowley Regis before (though not yesterday) and I'll offer this: 1] Leaving early counts as a part cancellation. Trains depart at the time on the timetable. They don't close their doors at that time, doors can take upward of 30 seconds to close, especially when people are blocking them. In the peaks (morning and evening rush hour) trains can run on two or three minute headways at pinch points on the network and losing 30 seconds at every station can mean lost paths through those pinch points and longer delays further down the line. 2] Everybody thinks their clock is correct, especially those who turn up 15 seconds before departure time and wonder why they can't get on. Station clocks arent always synchronised so while the clock at Rowley is showing 07:49:50 the clock at Stourbridge might be showing 07:49:35 and the clock at Smethwick might be showing 07:50:10. It sucks, but it's reality. Most trains will be dispatched by using a clock which is in the cab or on the wrist of the guard. 3] It's amazing how many people who are running for the train at the last second are holding a steaming hot cup of coffee. 6
