since arriving back in philpppines 10 days ago ive somehow fallen in love with popmusic. its a blessing given we all thought it was absolute shite and it gets played all the time but some reason some of the songs are very good. Might be something to do with loving hip hop dancing recently  but music is very very catchy.

I fancy the chicken madras brunette so I guess the dolphin one but not sure if I've seen it.

Which one. The young guy was just too, well, young, to know some of those questions.

More of a general observation really, with the exception of a few outstanding contestants the overall standard seems to be fairly low at the moment. Admittedly i don't watch every week, but there always seem to be one or two contestants who are no better than your average viewer at home.

You have a better insight than I do, so I might be being a bit unfair - I'm sure the pressure of being filmed plays a part.

I think the criteria for getting on there must have been relaxed over the years or there are more people who arrogantly think they deserve it.

I class myself as reasonably intelligent (don't laugh!) but I would never apply for Mastermind as I wouldn't want to embarrass myself. Perhaps the people today don't care about that and just want to get on TV?

I'm still chewing over having a crack at it. I think the pressure must be a factor - I felt absolutely fine with radio, but TV may be more stressful. There is always a lot of luck involved. Sometimes I'll scoff at the 'easy' questions people get wrong, but then hear a run of ones that I'd fail on, so who knows.

I would give it a go. I think I could do well at one specialised subject, but having 3 or 4 should you make it further would be a challenge. A little more than reading a couple of books. I have 2 nailed on. A third possibly and a 4th would be a stretch. (Harry Potter series, the life and work of Johnny Cash, the James Bond series of films, the life of Fred Dibnah).

They wouldn't allow Harry Potter, it's been done before. Probably also true of Bond.

Some scumbag at work today had pissed in a rubber johnny so that it was as big as a balloon and left it next to the toilet on the floor.  I almost trod on it when I went for a dump and could quite easily have got a piss-soaked leg.  Who hates their job and other people that much?
