tonyh29
You don't have to wear a poppy but would it really hurt to buy a poppy and help The British legion support Ex service men on hard times ?I don't really care that some biddy went on TV and did an interview without wearing one ( but I don't care for Celebs full stop ) , I don't care that Corbyn may not have bowed his head enough to please some bloke on Twitter ( but missed the VIP lunch all the other MP's went to ,to chat to veterans ) but the fact that the internet is abuzz with these trivialities instead of remembering what the whole thing is about does piss me off
chrisp65
it does appear to be turning in to a 'thing'I don't think I've worn a poppy very often. No deep political statement, I haven't worn stickers for the RNLI, wristbands or ribbons or marie curie daffodils etc either. That side of stuff just sort of passes me by.But there is a growing need to conform on poppies which is a deep shame. I actually had a whole lecture off my old man a couple of days ago about how to wear one, what side, where the leaf should point, what to do if you've personally lost a close relative. All manner of ridiculous little pieces of poppy etiquette he's picked up from somewhere. When I tried to suggest that where the leaf pointed probably wasn't important, we got down to what was clearly the real issue at hand - the fact that I didn't have one.Hope we're not all heading in a silly direction with all this ties and bowing and poppies and singing the anthem stuff.

I've never worn a wristband thingy either , they aren't my thing ... I do the donation part but I don't play this whole different colour bracelet thingy to show everyone what charities I support ( that and the fact that bracelets are ghey )we are heading in a silly direction and you can blame everyone that uses twitter for it ..so my advice is next time you see someone who is on twitter , slap them with a wet haddock P.S I suggest we look in the Villatalk Twitter directory for our first targets , I'm happy to split the list 50 /50 and pay my way on the fish

El Zen
Being diagnosed with depression, realising I'm completely ignorant to mental health issues and struggling to understand why or how this has happened.Sorry to hear that. I believe there are a few VT'ers who know a lot more about it than I, so I'm sure someone can give you some helpful advice. While I am fairly sure I don't suffer from depression, I am much more prone to feeling down for no apparent reason than I think most people are. I know it's just how my brain works, chemically, and that makes it a lot easier to deal with. Now, with depression it obviously isn't that simple but perhaps being aware is something that could help you deal with it better?
