MakemineVanilla
John Lennon's cover of "Stand By Me"Awful. The whole Rock'n'Roll album. SHOULD have been great, but it was mostly awful. I blame Phil Spector. The problem seemed to be that Lennon was stuck with the label of being the anti-McCartney (as in the opposite), so while Paul was doing the Crossroads theme on Venus and Mars, which was bland and banal, Lennon went for raucous authenticity.A lot of people thought his voice was a little bit too thin and raucous. It was not a great album but a lot better than Venus and Mars IMO. But both albums seem to offer evidence that Lennon and McCartney both benefited from what the other brought to the party. I was with you up to 'raucous authenticity'. That would have been great if it had happened, with a bar band and minimal production. But it was nothing like that. Lennon tried his best to do his 'Twist and Shout' voice, but it got buried in cotton wool sound, the musicians sounded like bland LA session men on downers, and everything was too s-l-o-wwwww. Apologies. I hadn't heard the LP for years and it seems I confused the live versions I have since heard with the vinyl which is everything you say it is. Slipin' and Slidin' sounds like JL dubbed onto a Chas & Dave backing track and recorded on a 78. rodders0223
The BBC posting clickbait headlines. I expect it from most media, it really pisses me off even more with them though. It's not like there are ads on the page they want us to see. Current example. Front page headline on bbc.co.uk "man must pay £550 after leaving bin out on wrong day", alongside a photo of a shocked looking gormless man. Which makes you think, "wow, the poor bloke has been fined by the council for leaving his bin out for a day after collection, or putting it out early, that's outrageous". But no. That's not what happened at all. You click on their lying, bullshit headline, to find out that: A man has been fined for leaving his wheelie bin out to be collected for several weeks. He was fined £80 which he refused to pay. The council issued a further penalty notice and then took him to court. So far from having to pay £550 for "leaving his bin out on the wrong day", he's had to pay £550 for leaving his bin out for weeks on end, on a very narrow pavement, ignoring requests from the council, then refusing to pay the much smaller fine and had to pay 2/3 of the fee as legal costs for being a dickhead and dragging it to court.. You're lying words removed, BBC.My neighbour leaves her bin out for days on end...but then again, she also thinks it's perfectly acceptable to go to the shop in a dressing gown and slippers... There should be a **** fine for that anarl.
tonyh29
Wasn't the Rock n roll album part of his settlement for stealing the line here come old flat top from chuck berry for Come Together ?possibly his heart just wasn't in it as a result Yes it was. Not just that line, but Come Together was pretty much a total ripoff of You Can't Catch Me.I'm not musically trained as someone like yourself is .. but to me they sound nothing alike ... can you hear similarities in the structure , chords etc ? maqroll
I had a job interview with this fancy pants hotel a few weeks ago. I guess I passed the first one, because they called me back in a week or so later. A few days after that, I followed up with an email per their request. Now, ten days later, I haven't heard a word from them.It took me 90 minutes to drive there, twice, and they don't have the courtesy to either let me know they are still deciding, or that I simply did not get the job.Unprofessional words removed. Yep. The main reason CT sounds different is that it's much slower. Shame you can't play 33s at 45 on CD...

AlwaysAVFC
The word 'artisan' when describing anything home-made (and expensive) "We source our delicious sour dough bread from a local artisan bakery' I'd add 'street food' and to a certain extent 'craft beer' to that as well. both originally meant something, now they are just use to peddle crap or charge more for it.

Rugeley Villa
Especially the fine. not fussed about that, they can have 10 notes a week so i wont miss that every week but im gutted about no football days for a bit. i can apply after two years for it to be lifted and i was told if i stay out of trouble there should not be a problem but we will see. a lad i know is on his second banning order from villa and he now goes to rangers every other week with the bloke who lives opposite me so there is always that but i dont fancy travelling that distance for a club i dont feel passionate about. nah ive got to take it on the chin, my previous did not help but either way they come down hard on you now at footy. Pm if it's easier.things were getting a bit heated in the north stand corner, anyway this stoke fan is getting escorted out past the villa fans and he starts hitting out at villa fans. some of us made a surge towards him and also missiles were thrown at him. i got picked out a long with some other villa fans. overall 10 people got arrested. moment of madness and i had been drinking, also i wont deny that i easily get wound up at the footy and its probably not a good idea for me to sit so close to the away fans. back in the holte end i think once the ban is lifted. first time ive been lifted at the footy and im certainly no hooligan but yeah sometimes my emotions takeover.
