Things that piss you off that shouldn't

The company I work for has an internal phone book with pictures on each person's profile.

I use it to determine how nice I'm going to be to people.

Ha! Exactly the same as me. Voicemail from a female colleague in another office? Open Office Directory, look at picture and decide whether to call (hot) or send a blunt email (old boiler).

I managed to upload a picture of Robert Downey Jr as my pic on the company intranet for a while before it was taken down by the humourless shits in HR.

We used to have pictures in Outlook but the CEO decided it probably wasn't a good idea to have a picture of a manager's smiling face on an email delivering bad news.

BOF's point stands though. 'Average' DOES mean 'not very good'. It also means 'not very bad'.

So what you are saying is that 'average' means 'average'. As opposed to mode, median or mean.

Getting a call at 5:28 when I finish at 5:30

Balls.

I finish at 5pm (officially)

Try never to answer a call after 3pm. Just to be safe.

My phone is paid for by the company, the theory being that I'm always on call.

I get a free smart phone and all the twitter and flickr I can handle. They get access out of hours.

That I've disabled voicemail and have the ringer permanently on silent is irrelevant.

Liverpool vs. Spurs having it's own BBC live text page rather than being lumped in with the other 3 league games as if it's some huge event

They need a separate page so the BBC reporters can cream themselves over Kane, Sterling and 'Stevie G'

[emoji1] No, I was pedantically saying what it doesn't mean.

Now, I don't particularly care what happens in the Eurovision Song Contest.

It's cringeworthy bollocks at the best of times and I do my best to avoid seeing a second of it every year.

But... I hear the next one will include Australia.

WTF?

they're in the play offs against those other europeans, Azerbaijan and Israel

At least Azerbaijan, as a former Soviet state, has some claim and does also actually straddle Eastern Europe. Israel is a joke though, in much the same spineless way that UEFA accepted them in after Asia wouldn't have them.

I'm sure you already know, but Barry Town beat Shamkir of Azerbaijan home and away in a Champions League Qualifier.

The match, in Baku, was the furthest Barry ever travelled for a competitive first team fixture, Barry winning both legs 1:0

Barry were knocked out in the next qualifying round by FC Porto, despite winning the home leg 3:1 had Barry pulled off an away win or draw they'd have been in the Champs League proper!

As a glory hunter, I gave the Baku trip a swerve, but was there for Porto home and away!

carry on...

you should have gone Baku is awesome .. currently they are planning to acquire the worlds tallest building title by building an island with a few casinos and a giant tower  ..good to see they are putting their oil riches to good use

in terms of residents of Baku I believe their fondest memories in recent times past go something like ... Hosted Eurovision song contest .... became a free Republic  ... made a shit load of oil money  ..Hosted a football match v Barry Town
