AVFC-Prideofbrum
Phew, I'm knackered jumping through paddypower's hoops in order to get my money back off them. Here's a summary ------------------ Account -> Withdraw all Account suspended. Lolwut? Email - Eh why is my account suspended for taking out my money? Email from them - Please send us a photo of your credit card, passport & a bank statement (with sensitive details blanked) Done. Proves I'm definitely not a con artist. Sorry but can you please send us a photo of the registered credit card. That's an old one that my bank explicitly asked that I cut up and dispose of. Sorry we need a photo of it. So you are telling me no amount of official documentation proving my identity will allow me to get my money back from you? What is your mother's maiden name and last 4 digits of the registered credit card. Answered. One moment please...... OK your account is re-activated and the money order has gone through. Gee, thanks --------------- Suffice it to say, this little episode has put an end to any possibility of me ever re-using that account again. Paddypower's loss is Victor Chandler's gain. Bastards **** me over too after winning about £300, although admittedly they was right to but it was still annoying.
bickster Posted February 22, 2011 Moderator Share Posted February 22, 2011 I once tried to withdraw "over £50" from my PP account and they blocked my account in a similar fashion, I also didn't still have the card I'd registered and deposited funds in. I had to get a cheque sent out with my winnings. The bloke on the phone was rather incredulous that I had deposited no money since my initial deposit three years earlier
BOF Posted February 22, 2011 Moderator Share Posted February 22, 2011 The bloke on the phone was rather incredulous that I had deposited no money since my initial deposit three years earlier Yeah that's another impression I got. A kind of "but but, we're supposed to own all that money by now...". And they probably usually do.
Zatman
For quite a long time I didn't realise that Paddy Power was an actual person. I thought it was like "flower power", only for gambling Irishmen. Then I heard his regular spot on TalkSport. Even then I visualised him as being quite an old bloke. I was surprised by how young he actually is. think his Dad or Grandad was also called Paddy Power and they set up the company. He always sounds like a smug word removed. This thread reminded me to bet on footie tonight

Houlston
The most annoying advert of all time, for yell.com where some middleaged hippy is searching for a trance song called pulse and thunder by Day V Lately and he says at the end in the most annoying smug manner that his name is Day V Lately NOT ITS NOT YOU SMUG clearing in the woods YOUR REAL NAME WOULD BE DAVID LATELY. HolteEndRob
When people try to sing a long to a song and they don't know the words and you can see them trying to mumble it as if they know. Does my head in. Example... My mrs and her friend were watching that show on itv with Paddy McGuinness, not 100% cure what its called but I think it might be take me out? Something like that anyway. Well when they play a song on there the girls all stand there having a dance and trying to sing a long to the song and you can see they haven't got a clue what the words are. STOP IT!!! Same as when girls do this in nightclubs aswell. Really gets on my nerves.
Stevo985 Posted February 22, 2011 VT Supporter Share Posted February 22, 2011 That would kind of take away from the point of it being a throwback to the J.R. Hartley "Fly Fishing" advert. Incidentally, that Day V Lately song exists.

No it wouldnt because JR Hartley is his name by using his initials, whereas Day V Lately is the smug idiots stage/band name, its a bit like the bird form 2 unlimited ringing up and asking for no limit and then saying her name is 2 unlimited. Besides of which that song and clip you have found is part of yells marketing and created for the advert. Why not let me be annoyed by it?
Juju
wiggyrichard wrote: So all in all Bri, why couldnt you withdraw your own money? What was the reason? Because I tried to take out all of my money, they treated it as suspicious which is why the account was suspended. They also said my bank wasn't one of the banks that provides the facility for an automatic transfer, which necessitated jumping through the hoops - official docs. Then the registered CC was a previous CC. Eventually I stopped with the emails and just went to their 'live help' on their site and that person got it sorted. It just gave me the feeling they were making a withdrawal as difficult as they could. I don't know if it makes you feel better, but I have a tiny suspicion that gaming related fraud is going through the roof. I am looking for a new job in motor claims, and looking to specialise in fraud, and a couple of searches on job sites trawl up a huge number of fraud analyst positions at the moment. Of course the industry is expanding itself, but with online, you never see the customer, you can't build a personal relationship. Its just transfers in and transfers out. And even if you lose on the bookies online, if you are depositing sums in - and then withdrawing sums out, even after losses, its still potentially an eficcient money laudering process.
