Popular Post villaajax
Health and safety madness! At work we have swipe cards to get into and around the building, if you're leaving a room or exiting the building, we had switches which would open the doors but they have now been replaced with more card readers meaning you can't leave the building without swiping your card. The idea behind this, which we were sent an email about today, is that if there is a fire, they need to know how many people have 'swiped' in to or out of the building, which makes sense I suppose but apparently we are not allowed to 'tailgate' through the doors anymore, no being polite and holding doors for people, everyone needs to exit one by one now so that the system can keep count. The exception to this rule is actually in the case of a fire when the doors can be held open to allow everyone out safely and in good time... Can anyone spot the flaw in this plan?

I briefly worked in Bronglais hospital which spent many thousands having four digit locks put on every corridor door so people couldn't wander around the building. Each department had it's own number, so staff had free reign in their own areas but needed to be given access to areas they weren't naturally supposed to be in. So much time was being lost having to let staff from other areas into your area that the whole process was speeded up by printing the four digit number just above every lock. coda
Made a donation recently (look at me giving to charidee) via the JustGiving website and found out yesterday they take a 5% cut just for running the site. Wish I'd given it direct to the charity.
