tonyh29
Can't think of anywhere better to put this. http://m.staples.ca/sbdca/en_CA/cre/programs/grammarquiz/ You shouldn't be allowed to post until you get 100%, with regular retests. For the purposes of the thread, it pisses me off it's not required for a connection to the internet. chrisp65
group of us have been to a trendy indian restaurant in Shoreditch tonight, Dishoom, nice enough without being awesome as a group we've spent something like £700+ over the evening first thing they said when we arrived was that they needed us out by 9:30 as they had another booking later I know that happens, but have some bloody tact, don't be rude to customers shelling out hundreds 'cos come the end of the meal you get **** all tips
PompeyVillan
If you have booked, and they are rushing you out, that's poor service in my book. Its about hospitality, not just money.
AVFC_Hitz
Has anyone ever finished a game of pub golf? I don't think it's ever been done Yes me. It wasn't pretty and it was probably far too dangerous to be considered anything other than reckless. I had 18 drinks in one. Went back to my mates in the 10th pub and did the last 8 again. I never got that, and I'm convinced that's something I was never taught in school.

The dog is wagging its tail' It Durrrrrrrr I also got this one wrong. 2 Wrong in total, this and the whom one. My reasoning was that it should be it's because the apostrophe indicates that the tail belongs to it. mjmooney Posted November 22, 2013 VT Supporter Share Posted November 22, 2013 In the case of any other word, you'd be right. its/it's is an exception.

Well the only question I got wrong was a rare exception that I have now stored, so I think I'm ready to apply for my full Grammar Nazi licence. Stevo985 Posted November 22, 2013 VT Supporter Share Posted November 22, 2013 I'm always ok with that. In my head I just substitute "i.e." for "that is to say..." and "eg" for "for example" If you remember that you shouldn't ever get it wrong.

I did sort of get that but my interpretation of the sentence was wrong. I don't use them a lot so it's all good.

leviramsey Posted November 22, 2013 VT Supporter Share Posted November 22, 2013 (edited) There seems to be an issue with the last one...I put "I'm bored with this", in preference to "I'm bored of this".The explanation is: "Although ‘of’ is commonly used after ‘bored’, this is technically incorrect. Always use ‘with’ or ‘by’ in formal writing."I did, you stupid Canadian Romneyites! Edited November 22, 2013 by leviramsey
