Mantis
Neither Gabby or Steer are legends but Steer is closer just by virtue of not being a wasteful parasite.

DevonIsAPlaceOnEarth
Glad he got the goodbye. His performances in the playoffs especially were outstanding. Must have been the longest serving member of the first team too.

rodders0223
Not often you get every single person in a stadium pre match to stop waffling and stand and applaud a Villa player. 2 mins of silence and appreciation from every single person in the Doug. If not for injuries he'd have had a much better career. Top goalkeeper for me, made some incredible saves despite never getting a proper run. Would come in from the cold and look absolutely faultless.
Rds1983 Posted June 18, 2023 VT Supporter Share Posted June 18, 2023 Hopefully Jed can find a decent team to join and get a solid run as starting keeper. Played an important part in our promotion and was always decent enough when coming off the bench. Still only 30 so a good few years left for him to keep playing.
StewieGriffin
Hopefully he gets back fit and finds a good Championship team to take him - Im not sure he's quite PL standard, but he's a top end Championship keeper
Villatillidie95
would be a great pickup for Leicester in the championship! Wouldn't have to uproot himself, probably not too expensive wages wise, and will be very very good in the run in for them if they are in and around the promotion places. As we well know, it is hard to get promoted from that league and they might not bounce back straight away, so he could be a good signing for some seasons. Plus, he is way better than Iverson! Villatillidie95
on sky sports news now in the studio with clinton morrison, he is quite a good pundit and discusses the game well, was talking about archer earlier and how he would train with them sometimes so its good to see he is till around, not many people have the privelege of staying at the villa for 10 years! villan95
I hope the injuries haven't forced him going into punditry? Hopefully he can find a new club.
Villatillidie95
He's still got quite a few years left in him as a keeper and sounds like he has a great understanding of the game and a real down to earth guy, hope he can get a club also....really enjoyed watching him in goal for us in the championship, the best camraderie i've seen at the villa during 2 of those 3 seasons.

Popular Post Mark Albrighton Posted January 4 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted January 4 (edited) Quote Peterborough have signed ex-Aston Villa keeper Jed Steer on a short-term deal to cover Nicholas Bilokapic's injury. Bilokapic suffered a knee injury in the draw with Barnsley on 29 December, with Fynn Talley making his first start in Monday's League One win over Derby. Steer, 31, made his most recent appearances while on loan at then Championship side Luton in March 2022. VillaChris
Very good chance of getting another promotion on his CV. Shame he got that bad injury at Luton as he'd probably have done enough for them to sign him permanently and he could be starting every week for them in the prem now. Guess that's the story of his last 5 years but he was exactly what we needed in goal in the promotion run in so someone to still root for.
