PieFacE Posted July 24, 2023 VT Supporter Share Posted July 24, 2023 Only watched the first half yesterday but thought Tonali looked a bit lost. Will obviously take a bit of time for him to get up to speed but was expecting a bit more given how it was reported as such a coup for Newcastle. Sure he'll find his feet soon.

The PL is less forgiving than Serie A, will take him a bit to get used to the pace of the league, he wasn't great in his first season at Milan from what I can remember. Helluva introduction though up against McGinn (whom Kovacic had publicly stated was the most difficult opponent he’d come up against in England) - did anyone else notice SJM give him the infamous bum roll in the first 10 mins last night? Relegated Bought by crook, nearly bankrupted Last minute saviour in two billionaires who have a 5 year dream Double act of local lads manager and star player inspire team to go on record breaking win streak and claim playoffs Get to playoff final, with El Ghazi even making personal sacrifices to help us win Get promoted Play well initially in the league but don't pick up many results. Looking rough before lockdown. VAR balls up. Hit form late in the season and overturn 4 point deficit with 4 to play into survival on last day. Have record start to prem season, topped off with smashing the champions 7-2. Local boy leaves. Struggle start of 3rd season, get Scouse nugget in. Total disaster. Sack Scouse nugget after a year and get in football genius Emery, produce nigh on league winning form for most of the rest of the season to get Europe. Owner 5 year plan complete. Team back where it belongs. Cute montage

Ceemo
Deal is supposed to be up to £40 million which is mad money for essentially a back-up right-back. Chelsea also get a sizeable cut of around £15 million from the deal. Edited August 3, 2023 by Ceemo

But they’ve spent over £400m since the takeover and sold £45m in talent. It will catch them up.
VillaJ100
They'll just sack off lascalles or longstaff to Al-whatever for about 40 million
villa4europe
good player, a lot of money! think they're still doing a good job of picking up big pieces rather than trying to buy a squad in one window, they still need a few pieces too, targett is still back up LB, Dummett back up CB, longstaff back up CM saw a pissing contest thing on facebook the other day dragging villa in to a newcastle post, first comment was they have a much better squad than us, they really dont, they've still got hendrick, ritchie and hayden on the books

Sold ASM for £25m and Chris Wood for £15m. Gut feel they'll be nowhere near a 3-year loss of £105m.

Not with CL money plus the extra home games, plus the inflated advertising they can claim for because of the CL - "Man Utd get £200m for a shirt deal, so we can too - we're in the same competitions" FFP won't be a problem for them
