Popular Post est1874
Shout-out to the absolute cognitive dissonance that must have been generated in Newcastle fans seeing their captain in a rainbow armband today. They don't mind being funded by a regime that imposes capital punishment or life imprisonment for gay men and women in Saudi Arabia. But God forbid an opposition player should go down with a clear concussion. Booooooo, way aye man, BOOOOOOO! Scum. 9
CLARETANDBLUEFOXY
Probably should change the title of this thread now because nobody is laughing at them anymore, sadly.
VillaChris
Already 12 points ahead of us. Shows what can happen when you waste 12 months backing the wrong manager. It's a great example of mentality/confidence in football aswell. Go back three years and they must've hated playing at home given how negative the crowd were to Steve Bruce/Ashley. Now they simply don't believe they'll ever lose at home again and it's reflected in results, 1 home defeat in about 20 games.

Forget the wealth of their owners, in the summer they only signed a few players and the star player (Brazilian boy in midfield, I’m not even going to try and spell his name) wasn’t breathtaking today. They have gone from the relagation certainties into a team that look dangerous, So, a couple of shrewd signings aside, the only thing that’s changed is their manager. Any clearing in the woods that can walk in a straight line on a football pitch is worth a couple of million these days, the bulk of every budget should be spent on the manager. What we are seeing with Newcastle atm is just the difference between a coach (Howe) and a fraud look Bruce Edited October 29, 2022 by av1

What we are seeing with Newcastle atm is just the difference between a coach (Howe) and a fraud look Bruce They have the highest net spend in the league this year. English international keeper and right back, big money on Guimares, Isak and Botman, decent money on Burn and Targett and then overpaid slightly for Wood but that helped relegate Burnley. Farlz
How are they STILL banging on about Sob on the Tyne? It's been over a decade ffs, you'd think they'd get over it by now.

We really really need a midfielder like Guimaraes, perfect tempo player for them. Considering we've spent 200m over last three years it's ridiculous we've never scouted and signed one and just mainly relied on what we had from summer 2019 until Kamara came in the summer. There’s a weird narrative that Newcastle haven’t really spent any money. Eddie Howe has spent nearly a quarter of a billion on players since getting the job. Yes he’s a good coach and they are getting good results, he’s even getting a tune out of guys like Almiron and Joelinton, but it’s probably easier to do that when Sven Botman and Bruno Guimaraes are passing them the ball than it was when Ciaran Clark and Issac Hayden were. Howe has been smart in that he’s come in and raised the floor rather than the ceiling, but the notion that it’s been done with “a couple of shrewd signings” is laughable. It’s been with £250m. 4
ferguson1
Just good recruitment and a proper coach getting a tune out of the existing squad. Who’d of thought that would work? We now appear to have obtained a decent coach, but what about our future recruitment?

'Plucky Newcastle, those plucky Geordies, 53 years without a trophy, English manager. English striker - they love a Number 9 up there. Showing the league how it's done' - the platitudes are embarassing. They deserved to win, but the scoreline flattered them today.
