quizme
Great strike yesterday, played a part in all our goals. Love the big man.
ciggiesnbeer
i think he's one of the best complete forwards to wear the shirt, but is he really the best player for a long time? We've had our fair share of good players in the last few years, they just haven't all stuck around/been in their prime to play in the same team at the same time together. Would rate Friedel, Mellberg, Young, Milner, etc. from the last few years. I would agree he's one of the best complete forwards we've had for a long time, however Out of the ones you listed only Milner was better imho. brummybloke
looks far better with a player next to him who has some football brain no offense to gabby but he doesnt have one, both bent and weiman looked good alongside him and more importantly aston villa looked far better with 2 up front and the result, while a one off to me shows lamberts 'system' which has had players out of position and bent not even playing, needs to be changed. lexicon
My favourite player since Milner - he's fantastic.

Young took a while to get going and IMO Milner didn't become a great player for us until he was moved into central midfield.

VillaGoMarching
Running out of superlatives for the kid, He's been an absolute revelation for us. Fingers crossed we can keep him fit and fatigue free. Need to really give Bowery some game time in the Benteke role too.

Jarpie
As I wrote in Weimann's topic, we need to be careful not to put too much pressure on the young lads shoulders, hopefully Benteke is the sort of player who thrives under the fans expectations. dont_do_it_doug.
Not only that but he's looked great every time I've watched him, in a front one, two, or three. You've picked the wrong thread for that discussion. Top class this kid. Hard to believe he's a kid....
Big_John_10
His skill, touch, athleticism and finishing all seem to be top level. And at 21 the sky really is the limit for him. I was worried he wouldn't be able to make an impact this season but he's hands down our most important player.
LondonLax
Yes, I find it odd the guff we were getting from some of the Belgium fans for paying £7m for him. He may not finish like VanPersie but he's only 21 and his all round game is excellent. £7m was great value all day long.
Stevo985 Posted December 12, 2012 VT Supporter Share Posted December 12, 2012 You'd think if we were to (hypothetically) sell him now, his value would have already doubled.
AVFCforever1991
I use this logic. Andy Carroll went for 35m, So Benteke should go for about 50m

El-Reacho
Imagine we'd had him in that O'Neill side with Milner, Young, Downing, and Gabby. I know he was only 16 or whatever but just imagine..........
brummybloke
We've played with two up front the last 3 games. Glad to know you're paying attention. glad to know your not paying attention, i said benteke looks far better playing in a front 2 with bent or weiman or someone with a footballing brain which gabby doesnt have against stoke gabby was playing against qpr gabby was playing against reading gabby was playing and in none of those games did we have a 2 man attack with benteke playing alongside weiman or bent for more than a brief sub in the stoke game and we didnt actually have a 2 man attack in either of those games, gabby was coming in from out wide and benteke was up front on his own.
