The_Lions_Roar
There were an awful lot of people saying how daft the Ireland deal was from its very inception There was also an awful lot of people excited by it.
Guest
It is pretty obvious that Benteke has only ever seen us as a stepping to the big boys of the premiership. Whereas he may well want to play for his country.Absolute nonsense.Really? He said it himself when he signed. He may see a future other than Villa to progress his own ambitions, but comments like he may well want to play for Belgium indicate that he doesn't want to play for us. He gives it 110% for us and at the end of the day, we will get a hell of a lot more than we paid for him.We are still a stepping stone though. So are Man Utd, so are Spurs. The problem with AVFC wasn't who we sold its who we replaced them with. To think we had Downing, Milner, and Young and we effectively replaced them with N'Zogbia, Ireland and Bent. Absolutely true mate. A waste of money all over the place. In all fairness few of us would have disagreed with the signing of Nzog. It just hasn't worked out! The point is, we replaced Downing and Young with N'Zog. We cut our assists completely.

Avfc96
We really missed Benteke's link up play today and his ability to create space upfront, the front 3 looked devoid of ideas today and no-one was looking to make any forward runs. PaulC
Yes we have missed him since he came off against Norwich really. We weren't the same after against Norwich. We didn't look like scoring today.

dont_do_it_doug.
We would have won with Benteke playing. Indeed. Though the fact we've gotten 7 points from the three games he's missed (counting Norwich) is superb. I don't think anyone could have realistically hoped for that. Time to (re)unleash The Beast. Can't argue with that, I just feel yesterday was perfect for him and we certainly need him for our next game.
Dr_Pangloss
Yesterday we showed little creativity and no real final ball. Benteke can win games like yesterday by producing something brilliant, sadly Kozak isn't that sort of player and needs service.

BOF Posted October 7, 2013 Moderator Share Posted October 7, 2013 Let's hope they get at least a draw in their first game. That way they won't use him.
