leemond2008
Slayer’s Jeff dies aged 49 The Slayer guitarist, who co-founded the band with pal Kerry King in 1981, died of liver failure at a hospital near his California home. He co-wrote 1986’s Reign In Blood, regarded by heavy metal fans as one of the best ever in the genre. Big-drinking Hanneman had been forced to pull out of the band’s world tour in 2011 after a spider bite led to him developing flesh-eating virus necrotising fasciitis. He came close to having his arm amputated. Last night the band said in a statement: “Slayer is devastated that bandmate and brother, Jeff Hanneman, passed away at about 11am. “He is survived by his wife Kathy, his sister and brothers and will be sorely missed.” Tis a shame
