Kwan
I agree. Dying for a winger. Gabby and Andi do a good job, but ever since Young and Downing left (and Albrighton's atrocious dip in form), we haven't really had a natural crosser of the ball. Popular Post Pez1974
These forum topics tend to become a little bonkers, and despite there still being plenty of time ( ), I think our expectations are about right. Spurs over recent seasons have broadly set up the model for us to follow: Get in good young players who can develop and either be sold at a profit or become first team regulars (Walker, Naughton, Huddlestone, Andy Reid, Defoe, Carrick, Bale, Dawson, Lennon). This is what Lambert is trying to do. Look abroad for players with potential and lower fees/salaries (Modric, Gomes, Berbatov; ). Lambert is doing this too. Have a youth team which can supplement the first team (Andros Townsend, Caulker, Livermore, Danny Rose, Ledley King). He inherited this. Take advantage of others where appropriate (Parker from WHam; Defoe, Crouch and Kaboul from Portsmouth; Friedel from us; Gallas from Arsenal; Dempsey from Fulham; Lewis Holtby from whichever German club he was out of contract at). When finances permit, start to look at picking up a few big name signing - Van der Vaart; Adebayor; Lloris; Vertonghen) All of this can be done with a fairly low risk to the clubs finances; the key is having continuity at the top, which we have sorely lacked, a scouting network which supports this approach (which Houllier saw was crap and Lambert is clearly still working on) and the balls to accept that picking up a load of kids and unproven players from 'inferior' leagues comes with the risk that some will fail. Our problem this year is that we had to throw the kids in because our established players were sold/shit/injured/hated. Next season we should continue to pick up the Westwood's, Lowton's and Bennett's; we should look for the next Benteke, and even if he turns out to be the next Bosko Balaban we still have Benteke for less than we paid for Darren Bent. We should consider raiding QPR, Reading and Stoke/Wigan/Sunderland* for a player or 2 (not getting into names) And once that list of names we all know need's shifting is sorted, we can take a punt on a couple of more proven players to take us to the next level. I really don't know why I didn't think of this earlier.

AndyBM
why waste money on wingers when we dont use wingers? we only really need one for each side, albrighton for the right, one of the other youths for the left? stieber? grealish? carruthers? what we need is attacking players that can play wide and can cut in

He's not getting much game time and OM said they were ready to listen offers in Jan, so don't think he'd cost a fortune and wages should be reasonable. Very capable player who could fit into different midfield systems. On form he's got a lot of quality about him.

Not a single reasonable person in the world would think Kyle Walker is anywhere near being the best right back in the world. I don't understand how you can sincerely keep spouting this nonsense. Con
Kyle Walker is 22 and still improving. Who is better at right back? On present form or past reputation? Wouldn't buy any other right back in the world. As for Bannan, read the sig, I ain't writing. Edited April 18, 2013 by Con
sir_gary_cahill
On current form, I'd say walker is the best right back in the world, I'm proud to say that he played for us albeit for a short period
vandaq
Why are you still trolling about the bannan thing? Getting ridiculous, it`s okay if you think he is good but this obvious dick riding is getting annoying. Please, kindly **** off.

Con
Why get so upset? My opinion is based on evidence. It's not "obvious trolling". It's just an opinion you disagree with and don't want to hear. Keeping this on topic, if for whatever reason someone does something stupid and sells Bannan this summer, we will need to replace him with another "Bannan" like player. Or, for those of you who don't like him, a player who would play like you think Bannan should.
P3te
Kyle Walker is 22 and still improving That's the thing though, he's going backwards. He's been awful this season from what I've heard from everyone I know who follow spurs
Con
What is all this bull about Kyle Walker Best right back in PL. Also incredibly fast. Not as skilful as Danny Alves but is still very creative. Look at those key passes.

Mattyp_avfc
I'm sorry but really?? Kyle Walker? 0.o Mattia De Sciglio, Danilo Luiz, Phillip **** LAHM (Best RB in the world tbh), Luckas Piszcek, I'd go full on and say that Rafael>Walker......... in England Walker and Johnson are pretty similar... good going forward... shite defensively.... We have a pool of players to pick from... most Balanced at RB is most likely Jenkinson as he can go foward and defend pretty darn well!! Don't get me wrong.. I loved Walker when he played for us... But I think he's not lived up to how well he played last season. Edited April 18, 2013 by Mattyp_avfc
