The_Rev
It's actually this calendar year, 2013. (was mentioned on Football Weekly, which is where I presume TalkSport took the stat from)
Genie
Sounds plausible. Was actually mentioned by someone who dialled in so I guess that is where he got the stat from

briny_ear
Those charts make fairly grim reading for a Villa fan. Wow to Bayern's defence! (Edit - and attack!) Edited April 15, 2013 by briny_ear
The_Rev
Their record at home this season is very good. Their record away from home is astonishing. P13, W12, D1, L0 F31 A2 Pts40. That's right, they have conceded just two goals away from home all season.

It was the first shot (shot!) on target that Bayern had conceded in 268 minutes of football. Edited April 16, 2013 by Stevo985
Milfner
Mario Gomez tonight: 6 touches, 3 shots, 3 goals. He was on the pitch for 13 minutes.

Voinjama
That Guzan stat just enhances how disgracefully bad our defenders are.
Zatman
its more worrying that 2 seasons running our goalkeeper is arguably our most important player
Stevo985 Posted April 22, 2013 VT Supporter Share Posted April 22, 2013 Brad Guzan 'best goalie in prem' having made 200 saves this season (Sunday Independent) I'm not saying Guzan isn't the best keeper in the prem (he's up there this season) but this stat doesn't really prove that. The_Rev
I assume the 200+ saves figure from above is just the sum total of saves + high claims + successful smothers linked here. Stats from whoscored.com There was a stat going around about Guzan recently that he had also made the joint fewest mistakes leading directly to a goal of all goalkeepers in the division (shared with Jaaskelainen of West Ham) He has had an exceptional season, the stats back up the claim that he is up there with the very best goalkeepers in the division both in terms of raw numbers and as percentages. He wont get the recognition he deserves because of the goals against column, but that is probably a good thing because it means he stays under the radar. He has two years left on his current contract, getting him to sign an extension should be one of our main priorities this summer. Wainy316
Kubilay Turkyilmaz was Switzerlands top scorer before Alex Frei came along. Scored the opening goal of Euro '96 against England, didn't he? Nope, Alan Shearer scored the opening goal of Euro 96 against Switzerland.
