drat01
Ha, hilarious. How often do people charged with murder get bail ??? Special treatment for poor Oscar ?! Shows your ignorance of the South African legal system and circumstances that bail is given

CI
You're still missing the point 6.1.5 Public Order. If this murder had been committed by anyone other than a national icon / hero, I'd argue it would have lead to public outrage and possible unrest. Awaits more juvenile Gifs and swear words . CI
So, I don't have to agree with the judge. It's special dispensation.

See the thing is CI, he's a judge well versed in South African law as well as precedence, which like it or not is vital to keeping law and order. You are CI. Spot the difference?

CI
I imagine the defence will now be working on the "can't be a fair trial" angle. This will turn into a real hot potato.

CrackpotForeigner
He will walk Yes. There's no way. He killed someone, at best by being careless. He will have to go to gaol, and he will. All that's in doubt is how much of, or what version of the truth will be accepted by the court, the nature of the conviction and the length of time he'll serve. CI
Hmmm not so sure. Culpable homicide can mean just a fine and / or a suspended sentence. Any normal person they'd have thrown away the key

Any normal person they'd have thrown away the key If culpable homicide can mean just a fine and / or a suspended sentence why would they throw away the key for anyone rather than give them, say, a fine and / or suspended sentence?
