MikeMcKenna Posted November 3, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted November 3, 2015 Takeover still in the cards?http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/banksandfinance/11971191/Aston-Villa-holds-talks-with-Swiss-investor-over-sale-of-club.htmlAston Villa holds talks with Swiss investor over sale of clubA Geneva-based fund, named IM 1872, was close to agreeing a takeover with Randy Lerner, ASton Villa’s American owner, over the summerThe article also states they may be back. I really hope not. Looking at there site, one of their partners Marc Mayor is a debt specialist: "Marc positioned bfinance as an innovative intermediary, creating new debt and investment vehicles. Marc built up bfinance in the UK, France, Germany, and the Nordics, resulting in a strongly profitable business with significant competitive advantage."It (IM1872) is now believed to be seeking fresh funding in the hope of reviving its bid for Villa, which was put up for sale by Mr Lerner in May last year when the American tycoon announced he felt he could no longer do the job. Since then, Mr Lerner claims to have had interest from around the globe including from German, Italian, American and Chinese investors."My sense is that Lerner is now panicking that if we are relegated he will have to take a big hit or be prepared to wait another 3-4 years to sell. Demitri_C
If he is still in charge in January he has to give money to garde. We need a striker, rb and a great cb urgently
ThunderPower_14
The value of the club would have taken a huge hit since the summer anyway. We're in massive trouble and any buyer would lowball Lerner, stating that we'll be a Championship club in 6 months.
Popular Post Stevo985 Posted November 3, 2015 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted November 3, 2015 Can we print this in size 72 font and post it/email it to every media outlet in the country? Sherwood had discussions about potential targets to strengthen the squad and had the final say on a player presented to him by the club’s head of recruitment. He did not veto any player, as he was entitled to do, although it was clear that he wanted Aaron Lennon and Andros Townsend, the wingers, from Tottenham Hotspur, and Esteban Cambiasso, the midfielder, who had left Leicester City.

JAMAICAN-VILLAN
Josh Harris is going to be investing in Crystal Palace. I really don't understand why all these other clubs seem to be attract investment and we can't. Is the London thing really that much of a factor? villa4europe
YesBased on property value alone, look at Highbury square, £130m to build 650 flats, the average flat price in London is currently £500k That's circa £325m in return... If he's buying in to the stadium, the training ground and then any other property they own then it'll be worthwhile for that alone

I really don't understand why all these other clubs seem to be attract investment and we can't. Is the London thing really that much of a factor? Yes it is as is our respective league positions. Everton a team we once looked at as our equals at best are now streets ahead of us as was demonstrated today. The likes of Watford, Norwich and Bournemouth are now ahead of us in the league as has been the case for the likes of Swansea, Stoke, West Ham, WBA and Palace before them. Our current custodian has failed to take care of the club in recent years. His under investment has seen us pushed aside by teams who once would have not have hoped to have ended a season above us. Randy who we had once trusted has brought us to the brink of relegation! He now needs to dig deep in the next transfer window to protect his investment, to retain any hope of maintaining the sale price he demands for the club and to merit the title "custodian". A new keeper, left back and a forward is the minimum requirement along with a couple of loan signings. Prove me wrong Randy and prove you care about the club and the fans as well as your bank balance. Edited November 21, 2015 by John

PieFacE Posted November 22, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted November 22, 2015 At the end of the day, the person who will feel villa getting relegated most is Randy Lerner. I'm at that point where I really am not bothered. If we go down, I'll continue to go to villa Park. If we stay up, I'll continue to go to villa Park. If I feel it's not financially worthwhile, I'll stop going. Unfortunately for Randy, he doesn't have that option. He's completely messed his investment up good and proper, and there's nothing I can do about that. I know not everyone will agree with my blaze way of thinking, but the last few years have got me to this point. Villa Park has become a social occasion followed by terrible football. I really struggle to care much more than that.

If (when) we go down we will be stuck in the Championship for years. Even if we retained our better players I can see them having the fight to get us back up. On paper a season in that league where we won plenty of games and had something to fight for sounds great. The reality is more likely the same turgid crap and the bottom half of the table for seasons to come.
