Risso
Do we get the past years accounts around April? I'm really interested to see if Randy did indeed clear part of the clubs debt with that 90m ($/£ ??) move. End of this month.
Popular Post dn1982
It seems the club is damned if it does damned if it doesn't in some peoples eyes. The club line all along has been we need to get the wages sorted then we can look to go again. HH in his long post said the same lines and stated that we would look to be buying 2/3 players per window instead of 5/6 so hopefully bringing in better quality. Mat Kendrick and James Nursey have now said along those lines. Quite a few posters on hear have posted things saying the same sort of thing. I have believed this since Lambert got here and was the main reason I've stuck by him when performances have been crap. I've tried to look at the bigger picture and believe what the club has said. One thing the club is not good at is PR and relating with the fans so when we do get a bit of information to what the future may hold it's all spin because we had a bad window and a bad performance!! The mind boggles!! I have believed this summer would be the time to judge Lerner and next season the time to judge Lambert. Why can't fans enjoy the bit of positive news coming out without ripping it apart negatively? Some prefer to have Doug Ellis back and all he did was leak a bogus transfer story to the Mail to boost season tickets every year!! If in the summer Lerner doesn't come through and back Lambert I'll be the first to be on his case but surely with a bit of light at the end if the tunnel we should savour it now because as some of you think it may not happen!!!

Of course it's all PR bullshit and should be totally disregarded. Edited February 5, 2014 by MessiWillSignForVilla

Need a good team first, then a fancy new north stand.
GENTLEMAN
Anyone see this. New sponsor to pay for new stand and rename Villa Park.http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-transfer-window-review-3111476 There is no time frame it says in the article. I have my doubts. Strange how much positive PR has come out this week after the Randy selling story, it seems a little contrived to me. useless
I've a feeling it's sadly inevitable that Villa Park will be sponsered one day soon, and that would be so with whoever owns us. All to do with fair play rules I guess.
suttonpaul
I'll be delighted if we sell the naming rights to the ground, every year we don't do it we throw money down the drain.

useless
I was just looking for an old quote of Randy's when he first took over the club about sponsoring Villa Park, I can't find that but I did find this short video interview, it's nothing significant, just the first time I heard his voice I think. dukes
Naming rights to build a new stand makes no sense to me when we're struggling to pay competitive wages. And transfer fees aren't the major issue, what will the wages be like in the summer? What will happen if benteke is sold? And TBH Kendrick is basically a mouth piece for the club Nothing makes sense to you. I expect though given all the criticism you've made on here that you're a self made multi-millionaire at the very least. One of the first rules of business is to invest in bricks and mortar, i'm sure the returns from better corporate facilities, more season tickets etc are much safer than spending the money on players.wages

MikeMcKenna Posted February 5, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted February 5, 2014 Really don't like sports journos from the rags, but when I see "articles" which state "no time frame" and that are simultaneously supportive in that "owner Randy Lerner and Villa CEO Paul Faulkner are their own men who do not bow to fan pressure" it really suggests to me that Nursey has been briefed. Only my opinion of course but yet again, it seems that PF et al are talking "off the record" to the press but have got sweet **** all to say to the fans. I understand the need to keep the press on side but I **** hate the fact that the fans are always very secondary and very much taken for granted! Frankly I don't give a **** whether they sell the naming rights - it will always be Villa Park for me and thousands of fans. How about a bit of honest communication Mr.Faulkner instead of allowing rumour and speculation to fill the vacuum?
suttonpaul
Gent... are you on drugs? were not going to get that kind of budget at all. Come on you know that already. As for where money would go for sponsorship of the stadium, it can only go to one place and that is to AVFC, if that means Lerner doesn't have to add 15m to the club a year out of his own pocket because the club generates it, the move is still the right one.
