In fairness to Lambert I do think he wants us to pass the ball but we dont seem to have the personnel in middle of park and the movement from other players to do it

Who purchased the majority of the first team?

He should have bought Berbatov and Adam do you think?

Since the debate is about being able to pass, using Berbatov and Adam as a dig probably isn't one of your better choices VillaCas.

Hairyhands is obviously going to be biased about PL considering he either is him or is part of the footballing staff.

The football is dire, it has been horrendous to watch. However we have improved in terms of league position and if we finish around where we are this season with at least a hope of improving next year again then I will be happy and PL would've done a good job in my eyes.

I am at the end of the day a football fan, as are most on this forum.  Although many have a decent knowledge of the game and do raise good points at times, we don't know what goes on in the club, we are not at the level of PL and his staff.  He is a PL manager for a reason.  I hope he delievers the goods and I think he will.  There are plenty of decisions that I have not agreed with and continue to question. If he gets us to where the majority of us want him to do this year then I will be a happy fan.

My worry is that if we continue to play the way we are then I cannot see how in the blue hell we are going to finish anywhere near mid table.  My hope is that we improve our football as the seaon progresses.  Much like last year.

I'm confident the football will improve this season. Points on the board are the priority so I'd sacrifice decent football for a healthy points tally at this stage of the season in the expectation that the pressure is lifted and the style of play is easier on the eye.

Whichever way you want to look at it, whether we really 'deserve' to be where we are, we are 9 points above our recent neighbour 'the relegation zone', we just ended Soton's unbeaten home record, we are 3 points behind Man Utd (lol) and Soton (who anyone on here would agree have been good this season) and we are only 5 points away from Spuds in 5th.

Tbh the press should be lauding Lambert to the same extent as Laudrup and Pochettino...

14 months since anyone outside the Big 4 beat us away from home.

3 points behind Saints who apparently have been great so far - what will we do when we stop being useless ?

Saints one of only 4 unbeaten home sides before tonight - not now.

Won even having lost Vlaar and played another hour without Benteke.

5 games unbeaten.

PL must actually be doing something right ?

- We are the only team in the league not to concede more than 2 goals in a game.

- 5 games unbeaten, without playing well, imagine if we played well.

- 2nd best away team in the league

Hard to imagine the amount of stick Lambert was getting before tonight

Fulham up next. Paul... Sorry... Hairyhands, gotta go out to take the game to them from the start. They're a team with no confidence and an early goal should finish them quickly. Keep tekkers benched for the weekend IMO, but he needs to be back against united

Stick from the same old same old.  Anyone with a little common sense can see what Lambert is trying to do and can appreciate that it will take time.

Berbatov booed on and off by the Fulham fans

Bent dropped from team and bench by new manager

Adam useless (again) according to my mate who was at the Stoke game

These were your three key recomendations for last season wernt they? Along with relegation specialist 'Arry

- Lambert tactical genius

- 9 points ahead on like for like fixtures against last year

- Last 38 games good enough for 9th place aganst last seasons table

- Unbeaten in 5

- Key players returning from injury

All is good - expect, like me, you are delighted

Thought Lambert got everything 100% spot on today. I know that's easy to say when you win, but I agreed with everything beforehand in the match thread. Set the team up the right way today, it weren't pretty, but 3 points looks better than 0. Lambert showed a tactical side to himself which I weren't quite sure was there.
