chrisp65
would Robin Hood be seen as the acceptable face of armed robbery? he's sort of the opposite of George Osborne other than they are both attracted to men in tights can't think of any tbh, there is a sort of grim fascination with stories like Bonnie and Clyde but I think I'm as drawn to the myth building as the actual characters, at the end of the day, there aren't many crims that don't harm ordinary nice folk
tonyh29
, there aren't many crims that don't harm ordinary nice folk The Whiskey robber from Hungary ? Even left flowers in a lot of instances for the bank teller he robbed and then donated his ill gotten gains to the local office license and casino :-)

Pelle
Billy the Kid, for some reason. Probably because of the gloryfying myths.
mjmooney Posted January 22, 2013 VT Supporter Share Posted January 22, 2013 Billy the Kid, for some reason. Probably because of the gloryfying myths. I was thinking about old west guys, being a fan of that era. But William Bonney/McCarty was no less a **** up psychopath than the modern shitheads mentioned in this thread. But there is a serious case for Butch and Sundance. The film was surprisingly close to the true story.
BOF Posted January 22, 2013 Moderator Share Posted January 22, 2013 I thought most peoples' favourite real life gangster based on T-shirt sales was Che Guevara.
Pelle
Probably true that, Mike. But the old wild west bandits are the only criminals that I've come to like. Like Bonney, the Dalton brothers, James, Doc Holiday, etc. And as said, probably because of the gloryfying half myths spread by Hollywood and others. But Jesse James was real nasty piece of work in real life, Holliday and the Earps were corrupt as ****, etc.
GarethRDR
I once started an Irn-Bru bar racket at school. I would swing by a newsagent on the way in, buy 12 Irn-Bru bars at 10p a pop with my lunch money then sell them on the playgrounds to the popular kids for as much as 50p a bar. This got me immunity from nuggies and the like, and I eventually saved up the money to buy Colony Wars on the Playstation. Got into a fight with my friend too, because he started trying to do the same thing but nobody muscles in on "Chew-Bar" Robert's business. So, I suppose my favourite gangster is me.
