TrentVilla Posted December 28, 2012 Moderator Share Posted December 28, 2012 Put Given back in the team? I've given this the required 30 seconds thought and decided to stick with my gut reaction which was 'no **** way'.
GarethRDR
Even if we were guaranteed that it was an in-form Given coming back into the team, in-form Guzan is still the better option.
mikeyp102
Guzan has been our best player the last few games, he is far more vocal than given, comes for (and makes) more crosses and is just as good shot stopper. In other words we would be f'ing barmy to drop him
AndyM3000
Id be closer to making him our captain than dropping him. Insane thread.
MikeMcKenna Posted December 28, 2012 VT Supporter Share Posted December 28, 2012 (edited) Probably the most daft suggestion I have heard for a while. Makes me wonder if the original poster has actually watched any games and btw 8+4 = 12 not 14. Guzan is one of the few bright lights. And Given was shocking before he was dropped! pacbuddies
I think so i.m.o. He effectivley kept us in the league last year with numerous 0-0 draws i.e against Baggies, Sunderland Fulham etc. I support Brad but 14 goals in 2 games! If Given was dropped for 3 against Everton then on paper a change in keeper now should not warrant thinking about. Do you honestly think that Guzan has any culpability for the shipping of 12 goals in two games? It's the rubbish in front of him that is the problem. You would probably blame a car for crashing into a tree even though the driver was wearing a blindfold at the time. Weird thread!
KjParton
1/12 of those Goals was Brad's fault, he flapped at Ramires's second goal and probably should have saved it. There were a few that went under his legs but they're hard to save. Guzan has been doing fine and the last thing we need is the tiny flapper who has no control over his box in goal at the moment. Guzan saved a bloody penalty the other day and it was a good save as well!

Hanky
Shay Given is well past his best. Guzan has been our best player this season, so no.
Oaks
Most ludicrous thread if the year goes to this one.
CI
I'd say Guzan is nailed on for Player of the season. Wonder who will play v Bradford and the final if we make it ? Is it right to stay with Given in the cups ?
smetrov
No merit to bringing Given back for me.

maqroll
It could have been 20-0 against Chelsea if not for Guzan. I can't see one thing he's done wrong in the last two games.

GNeeUs
Yes, lets just drop our best player this season. I am completely confused, bamboozled etc. as to what has happened to Villa this week. The notion of dropping Guzan is simply the iceing on the cake. Laughable.........
KjParton
i would feel so much more confident if Guzan took the reigns vs Bradford.
TrentVilla Posted December 28, 2012 Moderator Share Posted December 28, 2012 I'm guessing I don't need to add a poll on this one then???
