Stevo985 Posted February 21, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted February 21, 2015 Sorry, I meant better than Given was when he was in goal for us when he was our number
KSV
we are lucky to have such great goalkeepers at the club. Whoever Sherwood picks will do a great job. I hope Guzan keeps his place as he is our long term option. I am just happy that Guzan may be feeling a bit of pressure from Given (especially as Sherwood seems to rate Given) as IMO he has been below his best this season. Stevo985 Posted March 4, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted March 4, 2015 Now that all this nonsense about Given playing instead of Guzan has been put to bed, it will be interesting to see if Given retains his place on Saturday. Sherwood has said he isn't going to play a weakened team, so I wonder if he's including Given in that. FWIW I think he probably will play Given, but I wouldn't be too surprised if he didn't. VillaChris
West Brom's only threat yesterday came from set plays so that would be a worry, Pulis will tell them to crowd round Given so I don't expect a clean sheet. No issue with him starting though based on his Leicester peformance.
packoman
I kind of hope he picks Guzan now, instead of just for the final (I'm not saying we are definitely getting to the final) like last time with Friedel and Guzan.
Zatman
solid game again today, he even came and collected a cross will definite deserve to start at Wembley

KSV
MON did it to Guzan didn't he? Played him in every game and was dropped for the final.
Popular Post Mantis
MON did it to Guzan didn't he? Played him in every game and was dropped for the final. How cruelly ironic it would be if Guzan who is now first choice isn't reinstated at Wembley.
lexicon
A performance you'd expect from a man of his experience - did well. Guzan is still better though.
VillaChris
Good game from him, handling was pretty good and came out probably quicker than Guzan would've for the Berahino chance in the second half.
PompeyVillan
Sometimes a change is as good as anything. Guzan hasn't done anything wrong, but maybe Given can play himself back into form. I'd give him another go, it's not as if he is a bad 'keeper.
Stevo985 Posted March 9, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted March 9, 2015 He did have a couple of shaky moments though coming off his line. One particular one in the first half where Clark had to give away a corner as a result and was absolutely furious with Shay
StefanAVFC Posted March 9, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted March 9, 2015 Didn't think that one was Given's fault to be honest Ben. I think we're just very lucky to have 2 very good GK's in the squad.
Stevo985 Posted March 9, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted March 9, 2015 It absolutely was his fault. But that's about the only negative he had during the game. It was another solid display from him.
KJT123
I would like to see Guzan play the final if we get there. He has deserved it and it will probably be his only chance of playing in a final of a major competition. It really is a horrible situation to be in, because Given hasn't put a foot wrong. foreveryoung
Great interview with him on talk sport after the game. Told us how it is with Sherwood, comes in kicks the players arses, expects.
Mantis
I'd play him in the semi-final UNLESS we get Bradford, in which case Guzan has to be put back in.
Sam3773
I think Given's got us this far, I'd be disappointed if we took it off of him in the last two games. He's done a great job so far for us and I have no reason to believe Guzan could have done any better. It's not to say I prefer Given over Guzan, because I love the Goose, but he's done a great job so far, let's let him finish what he started.
