No. I read it yesterday after you pointed out that the Beyonce / Swift gig might be fake news (it was)

Visiting in-laws in Rhode Island, yesterday we were down on the ocean not terribly far from where she had that palatial house by the water (that I think she *might have * sold not long ago)

Oh and the other thing I gleaned is that Harris will be using some Swift schmaltz called Freedom at her rallies with permission

Not really. She spent much of Autumn 2018 openly campaigning for Phil Bredesen against Marsha Blackburn in the Tennessee Senate election.

Her endorsement clearly didn't make that much of a difference, Blackburn still won comfortably.

Only The Young is a full-throated anti-Trump protest song, widely used by Democrats at events.

I imagine any eventual endorsement is being saved for the last two weeks when it might swing the dial. But it almost certainly wouldn't.

There's polling for that (unbelievably!)

Quote

In January, poll conducted by Redfield & Wilton Strategies on behalf of Newsweek found that 18 percent of 1,500 voters were "more likely" or "significantly more likely" to vote for a candidate endorsed by Swift, with 45 percent of all respondents fans of the music icon.

Newsweek

That just happened to be in the story I was already reading

I have watched this 3 or 4 times and it's up there with the 'My uncle knew about the power of nuclear' speech.

It seems like....immigrants are coming from mental institutions? Does he think asylum seekers come from insane asylums?

He is an absolutely fascinating public speaker, it just doesn't make any sense, his speeches remind me of the Friends episode where they cook a trifle but the pages are stuck together so they merge together a trifle and a shepherds pie. It's like he's reading out two different speeches at once flipping between them with each sentence.

And why does he keep making exactly the same comments about Hannibal Lecter. He brings up that film so often, it's so weird :D

Also kind of shows why Trump managed to get elected in the first place. Many people were sick of slick talkers like Obama (who is not an Ay-Rab no ma'am, in fact he's a good man!), and found Trump to be a breath of fresh air, and rallied around policy slogans, as crude and rudimentary as they were.

She's been vocal about Harris getting the nod for VP in 2020 I thought?

i know she's been very anti-trump in the past too

i've seen it theorised that 1/5 swifties would blindly vote whichever way she did (which is a lot of people) but no idea what that's based on.

Stability is the most important thing, for everybody. If there is instability it affects the economy and whovget shafted first in an economic crisis? The most vulnerable.

There has been a wreckers streak to voters in the 2010s. Hoping it all is settling down. Give me the polished politician over the populist clown any day.

Where can I get the CD?

(Verse 1)
I've been cheated by you since you took the floor
So I made up my mind, it must come to an end
Look at all the lies, will they ever stop?
I don't know how, but I suddenly lose control
There's a fire within my soul

(Chorus)
Trump-a Mia, here we go again
My, my, how could we elect ya?
Trump-a Mia, does it show again?
My, my, just how much we've missed ya?
Yes, we've been brokenhearted
Blue since the day you started
Why, why did we ever elect ya?
Trump-a Mia, now we really know
My, my, you’ve put on quite a show

(Verse 2)
I've been angry and sad about the news I see
I can't count all the times that you've let us down
Look at where we are, you’ve taken it too far
I don’t know why, but it’s harder to sleep at night
With the chaos you bring to light

(Chorus)
Trump-a Mia, here we go again
My, my, how can we resist ya?
Trump-a Mia, does it show again?
My, my, just how much we've missed ya?
Yes, we've been brokenhearted
Blue since the day you started
Why, why did we ever elect ya?
Trump-a Mia, now we really know
My, my, you’ve put on quite a show

(Bridge)
So many scandals, lies, and tweets,
Oh, it’s driving us insane
How much more can we endure?
We’re all caught in your game

(Chorus)
Trump-a Mia, here we go again
My, my, how can we resist ya?
Trump-a Mia, does it show again?
My, my, just how much we've missed ya?
Yes, we've been brokenhearted
Blue since the day you started
Why, why did we ever elect ya?
Trump-a Mia, now we really know
My, my, you’ve put on quite a show

(Outro)
Why, why did we ever elect ya?
Trump-a Mia, now we really know
My, my, you’ve put on quite a show.
