CarewsEyebrowDesigner
R.I.P indeed. A true eccentric and a brilliant contributor to our collective understanding. Job well done Sir Patrick.

Chindie Posted December 9, 2012 VT Supporter Share Posted December 9, 2012 He absolutely hated Germans, though I guess you can give him that as their bombing killed his fiancee while she was working on an ambulance. Sad loss still, you'll be missed Gamesmaster.

limpid Posted December 9, 2012 Administrator Share Posted December 9, 2012 The Sky at Night won't be the same without him sat there with his trousers pulled up to his neck. coda
He didn't look at all well on the last programme. He'll be missed. He really will. He presented it for over half a century and they'll have a job replacing him.
Chindie Posted December 9, 2012 VT Supporter Share Posted December 9, 2012 They've had another chap fill in a few times when Sir Patrick was ill, I'd imagine he might take up the job.
Davkaus
Sexist too. Can't really hold it against the guy, he was simply from another era. I disagree, it's not like your grandad making slightly off-colour remarks because he's not au-fait with the PC terms of the day. He was unashamedly a bigot, homophobe and misogynyst. He did some great things, inspired countless people, he'll very much be missed, and his programmes were excellent, but lets not pretend he wasn't a bit of a word removed. But above all, he was an excellent xylophonist.
