Shame because I really like some of their stuff (in particular the movie soundtracks) Just as well We Were Promised Jetpacks were supporting (I was mostly there for them) and they blew the main band off the stage (kengif).
bickster Posted September 7, 2022 Moderator Share Posted September 7, 2022 Another recent one featuring a favourite artist of mine - The Liminanas Score to the Balad of Linda L by Lionel Liminana and David Menke. These two have done two scores together and Lionel has done a few others besides but this one is the one where he steps outside the Liminanas box the most

GarethRDR
Sure I mentioned this in the gig thread way back when, but my first time ever seeing Explosions In The Sky was somewhat ruined by seeing JAMBINAI just before them, who were so freaking good that I was either too emotionally drained to appreciate EITS, or they were just plain boring... I genuinely couldn't tell you which one was the case. Fingers crossed the shows actually happen, but my GY!BE cherry will hopefully be popped in a couple of weeks. Which segues me nicely to 28 Days Later...

X-Files and Stranger Things have also employed some excellent use of Moby (My Weakness and When It's Cold I'd Like to Die, respectively).

Deloused actually forced me to listen to music differently. I got a whole new appreciation of Jazz from that album, even though it was more Prog Rock. That said I will find something worthwhile in almost any music style.

Well yes but when you steal something from one of my mates it somehow seems more personal The Passage - Drugface Absolutely steals the opening for this... Barracuda - Drug Fits The Face That is literally the tune that lauched Moby's career (Richard M Hall aka Barracuda aka Moby) And given the career he had after that to not acknowledge it and in fact deny it, makes it somewhat galling

bickster Posted September 7, 2022 Moderator Share Posted September 7, 2022 Here's another recent favourite of mine. Not your usual soundtracker, californian psyche rocker Ty Segall recently did the score for the Netflix movie Whirlybird. It contains this tune. I just love the drums in this

But a favourite of mine, definitely, it just suited the series so perfectly. It also helps that it's by a favourite artist of mine. Mogwai do a lot of soundtrack work but this one was just spot on for the visuals. Must check out. 6 hours ago, GarethRDR said: First 3 Wipeout soundtracks are immense. Think Wip3out might just edge it for me if forced to pick one (Xpander!), but I routinely listen to an assortment of stuff from the first three games. Loved this. 5 hours ago, HKP90 said: Can I also give a shout out to my mate Mark Willott, who is a composer? He is a local lad (Black Country) who has won an Emmy Award for work on American sports broadcasting, provided scores for games including Grid Legends, Cold Winter, Dirt, the Codemasters F1 games, as well as movies such as Snow Queen. He's also released his own stuff (see spotify for details), and tours around with his band Butterfly Stone. Check him out if you have a sec. Not sure if I'm allowed to post a link, but Dr Google should see you right. Will check him out. 4 hours ago, bickster said: Another recent one featuring a favourite artist of mine - The Liminanas Score to the Balad of Linda L by Lionel Liminana and David Menke. SO MANY great leads for new listening and sharing. It's gonna take me a while to work through all brilliant tips and recs. The Wipeout tracks and Liminanas esp. grabbed me.
