tomav84 Posted January 3, 2023 VT Supporter Share Posted January 3, 2023 noticed it in our game the other day whenever the ball went remotely near kane in the box and we were greeted with "kaaaaaane!!!" unfortunately it's not changing anytime soon

They should really try and provide better quality insight for the money. Sourness sometimes can't even recall the name of a player he's just sat and watched, just refers to them as 'the Japanese lad' or whatever. Neville and Carragher do seem to put some effort in but are allowed to get away with supporting their teams too much.

Barry Davies, John Motson, Tony Gubba, Gerald Stinstadt. Just say what you see sound bites for things that take your breath away like the old days. I always liked Alan Parry, good memories from Tranmere and Inter amongst others.

Literally scoops it 8 yards over the bar from 18 yards to KAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANE. Absolutely laughable. Someone above mentioned above the sound bites (sorry too lazy to find it) and that’s also so true. Everyone wants their “I SWEAR YOU’LL NEVER SEE ANYTHING LIKE THIS AGAIN” moment but now it’s a particular handful of players (Rashford, Kane, Haaland, Salah, etc.) who can fluff in a header at the second attempt from 4 yards and you get “OOOOOOOOH HE’S DONE IT AGAIN! SIMPLY SUBLIME! HE CANT BE STOPPED” and Douglas Luiz can score his wonderful goal and we get “Douglas Luiz…that makes it harder for Harry Kane’s men now! Harry Kane must be shaking his head.” *co-commentator* “Harry Kane is really going to have to pull it out of the bag. But if there’s one man who can do it, it’s Harry Kane”. eurgh
Popular Post Rino8 Posted January 4, 2023 Visiting Supporter Popular Post Share Posted January 4, 2023 I really like Ally McCoist. If you're not going to offer anything insightful why not at least enjoy it? Not that Ally isn't capable of bringing anything to the table as a pundit but he seems like he genuinely enjoys watching football and that adds loads more to the experience than the usual shite. I don't need Jamie Carraghers life or death extremist takes its only football.
Villan_of_oz Posted January 4, 2023 VT Supporter Share Posted January 4, 2023 This makes me think of my grandpa, may he rest in peace, it was because of him I developed my love of "soccer" (I do call it football as much as I can). I used to watch the Italian soccer with him on a Sunday morning on the local SBS channel. When I asked why we had to watch in silence, he just replied why ruin the match with idiots blabbering about it. As much as I don't enjoy watching a game on mute, he wasn't wrong and he said this in mid 80s...

I don't need Jamie Carraghers life or death extremist takes its only football. Ally is easily the best Co commentator around at the moment. He’s excellent. Not that there’s much competition. I actually think the standard of main commentators is fine. Some of them are a bit annoying but in general the standard is high. It’s the co commentators that ruin it. Most of them are awful and you can tell they do no research. I know the main commentators take their job very seriously and do shit loads of research for it. Where as the co commentators just seem to turn up and talk bollocks for two hours
Zatman
Peter Drury could be a great commentator if he didnt think every game needed a dramatic poetic explanation like he is at the Colisseum

I came on to post this once I settled the lad down from his hourly meltdown... Shearer is critical when teams field wakened sides, but because its his beloved Newcastle, its understandable, grade A wet wipe! 100% guarantee if this was Villa against Sheffield Wednesday they would be all saying Wednesday win. But they all said Newcastle win (tounge in cheek before someone throws me under the bus because there are some snowflakes on here, but they are all scared to say anything negative about Newcastle just on case they end up with a visit from a man with a long sword)
