barryod11
If Colback can get a call up to the england side then Westwood can 2 different types of players, can't compare them. Westwood compare against the likes of Henderson and Wilshere. Westwood is not better than any of those players in current time. Might be in the future, but not now. Agreed. He need's more PL experience but definitely has the potential to be an English star in the future. Fair play to him though he has really stepped up to the quality required in the PL. Roy Keane (and maybe even Cleverley) could be a great influence to further develop him as a player.
bannedfromHandV
Ian Wright on Twitter: Morning all. With all the names being mentioned for the England squad I wonder if Roy's gonna have a look at villa's Ashley Westwood ? That's a joke. Westwood is a decent player, but he is nowhere near International quality. Name three English midfielders not currently in the international setup who you'd pick ahead of Westwood right now

Yeah imagine that, trying to compare a midfielder against a midfielder, what eejits we are

wazzap24
He was my MOTM today and was the pick of the midfield. He held that centre ground superbly, played it simple but quickly and displayed moments of great technique. His first touch is the best in he team IMO. His games is understated, which is why he doesn't seem to get a massive amount of recognition, but he has become and integral part of the side for me. He needs to be a little bit more expansive in his passing, but he's becoming a cracking little player. DCJonah
When we pushed early 10 mins he was excellent. Great set piece delivery as well. Please don't go back to floating the ball in when benteke returns.
Dirtysanchez
I thought his set-pieces were brilliant today. Thought so too, it's nice to have someone who can pick out a man with a free or corner, he is definitely improving and delighted he wasn't dropped to make way for Cleverley. Farlz
I'm loving Westwood more and more as the games go on. He put in some superb balls today. Really has been great so far this season.

Please don't go back to floating the ball in when benteke returns. Set pieces today were porn. Looks very calm and collected. I'd like to see his range of passing some more - dont see it too often in game apart from when the ball is dead (set pieces). Becoming a great player I'm really excited for him! Stevo985 Posted September 14, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted September 14, 2014 He's so calm on the ball. I just never feel like we're going to lose it when he gets it. He's quality.
PaulC
Nice to hear him get some praise on MOTD2 extra. Jonathon Pearce saying he could be the next Villa player to get called up for England. Probably more suited to playing at the base of the diamond than wilshere who should play a more advanced role like he does for Arsenal.
Woodytom
The whole of the midfield was impressive. Didn't offer much going forward but defensively as a unit they were all outstanding. Thought westwood's set pieces were as consistent as I've seen him and I scrutinised his performance more than ever: he didn't put a foot wrong. Keep it up!!
