roadoftrinity
Dunne won't be going anywhere, and if by anychance he is, we will be getting a replacement in. I don't think Lambert is on a mission to take us down and leave us with 3 specialist center back's, two of which are youngsters. However, if Lambert has managed to find a buyer for an injured Richard Dunne then the man is an absolute genius.
Demitri_C
as much as i dont like dunne i would keep him if we are not intending to sign another cb. but i would definitely sell if we mean getting a replacement as he is overweight and error prone. at 33 will only get worse
DeadlyDirk
Whilst it would be good to see the last 2 troublemakers shifted out, it's leaving us in a terrifying position re: Depth at the back, and just a short period of time to sort it out. I hope we are all correct in saying that there are replacements lined up, because shipping them out and using Baker and Herd as our backups in the centre is a scary prospect!! LondonLax
I'm still not sure I believe Stoke will buy an injured 33 year old CB. However if he does go we will be desperate for some quality to replace him. Just try and picture an injury to Vlaar and having to use Baker and Clark with Lowton or Herd(?) as their back up for any length of time. That is a religation defence if ever there was one. LockStockVilla
That is a religation defence if ever there was one. While I would like to hope we bring in another CB if this move does materialize, I would not go all panicky yet. I challenge you to look at the defense PL played with last year. Most of the time it was a bunch of youngsters and it changed alot due to injuries and such. I remember talking to my taxi driver after the Norwich match on the last day and he was saying that PL did such a good job with the defense considering he had to play a lad who had just been playing for Colchester or summat a few weeks before, so I will trust him. But like I said it would be comforting if we do bring in another CB if Dunne moves on.

Morpheus
If this is true we need at least 4 players in over the next 8 days. Busy times. I just don't see us signing that many. We need five. LB, CB, DM, winger and CF and all of those need to be good enough to go right into the first team. Yea I know iwas putting down 4 as the bare minimum. Yes i mate i know and wasn't having a dig. I think we're all a little worried at the lack of transfer activity at the moment but i do think we'll bring at least three in. My worry is the quality of those players coming in? samjp26
Hmm very risky, I want Dunne to go but without any replacement it is very very risky. Leaves us with literally one established center back, and as much as I have faith in him doing well for us he still has no PL experience. What the **** :!:
Nabby
It is risky I can see why they would go for it though with his age ,niggly injuries ,high wages and out of contract next summer. Just wonder what the end game is here once they clear every one out

Imagine if Vlaar gets injured (or more likely suspended) leaving us Clark, Herd and Lowton as our only fit CBs. BIG MISTAKE if true. Don't know what's going through Randy's head but it's certainly not beneficial to Villa.
kammy
If true and he's replaced with someone better it's obviously a good move. Think we should be worrying about other positions though, instead of spending our time chasing a CB.

MYSTERYMAN
Hmm very risky, I want Dunne to go but without any replacement it is very very risky. Because Lowton can play centre back aswell they think they have enough cover was the thinking so in effect they think central defence is covered . Bazdavies79
I don't really rate Dunne, but I'm sorry to say rate Clark even lower, I think he's shit and let's not even go there with Baker or Herd. We still need to buy AT LEAST 2 quality defenders and I certainly wouldn't let Dunne go without replacing him with one.
