PaulC
I don't see it (jinxed it). I think they'll get a WDL out of their next 3 putting them on 36 going into the last game. I think we'll get 3/4 out of our next 4 leaving us on 37/38. Either way it's gonna be tight. Even tighter if we beat Norwich as we'll be at level with them if we get a point on Monday. They won 2-1 at both West Brom and Arsenal last season. OutByEaster? Posted April 27, 2013 Moderator Share Posted April 27, 2013 Well, as things stand, if we beat Sunderland 6-0 on Monday we'll go above Newcastle. What flaw? Where?

sutherland
It's official. Project Lambert has failed. Yep, the test of his psychic abilities to make Spurs play better and Wigan badly have failed miserably - time to let him out of the chamber and get back to his day job as a manager. I think the fact we're desperate for Wigan to lose so close to the end of the season shows the project has not been successful. The project has barely started. I'll give you a judgement after three seasons - he's taken over a mess of a club and started to try to turn it around - hopefully we'll have done enough to arrest the momentum that has had us heading downwards for the past three seasons and four managers. We won't find that out for sure for a week or two yet though. Thank **** for that!.. That the project aint started yet, We cant withstand another season of this shit. He's created this mess not inherited it! But then again as the saying go's, In life you get what you pay for! I keep forgetting we were on the verge of greatness when the last manager left. Totally agree pal, However if he had brought in these players and this was his current league possition would you still be blowing smoke up the managers arse? Just a thought like!.. I'm not blowing smoke up anyone's arse - McLeish's position was untenable, it was a poor idea from the start and he had no respect from the fans or players - Houllier was ill and couldn't continue - McAllister and MacDonald were only ever caretakers. I'd have been happy with Houllier staying, I'll be happier with Lambert staying - keeping a manager for longer than a season is a good idea - it promotes the ability to plan and carry out a plan and for me a manager who is a six out of ten dog average Premier league manager, given three years will achieve more than three seven out of ten managers given a season each. It's changing the manager every year that has gotten us where we are, it's the complete lack of continuity and plan that has brought us to the edge of the precipice - sacking this one, giving up on a plan, would be jumping, not falling. I think Lambert has shown some promise, he's made adjustments to the team throughout the season to try to address the shortcomings of the squad and has finished up with a system that allows us to get our best players on the field - he's been pragmatic, but he's also shown some ambition in his selections and a desire to get at teams. He's struggled with results, but I think pretty much any manager would have, if we stay up, then I think we can make a fairer judgement on that next season. For now, I think we've bottomed out, I think we're pointed in the right direction in lots of ways, performances now are better than they've been for a while, results in the last few months have been reasonable too, our wage bill is under control and we're almost back to a position where we can start looking upwards again. We have one hurdle to overcome, it's a big one and it's not going to be easy, but if we can manage it, then I think there are brighter days ahead. That's just my opinion - I'd be interested to see if you're able to articulate yours. Thanks for the efforts to take a lengthy reply, But the straight answer to my question is?..
