Rob182
All a game of football proves is who wins 3, 1 or 0 points. A terrible side of terrible players with a terrible manager could fluke a win against the best team in the world.
TrentVilla Posted December 5, 2012 Moderator Share Posted December 5, 2012 In the moment, on the day. That IS how football works No it isn't but if you think that it explains a lot. Anyway... you got the reaction I suspect you wanted, lets get back to the topic shall we.
Zatman
162 pages of a thread which will be of no relevance soon. Can't wait till it's locked in February. . then we can crack open the CL thread
roonst83
Really hoping we can get a comfortable victory on Saturday. Just for the nerves. Genuinely cant remember the last time we were ever 'comfortable' in a game.
CI
Ok back OT. Relegation. I'd say it's still touch and go. Winning our home games within our mini league and picking up draws away is what will see us safe.

AvfcTheObsession
Swansea we were quite comfortable without piling in the goals One nil up for most of it, was only comfortable right at the end when we got the second.
CI
Swansea were the better team first 25-30 mins Guzan made some good saves
Guest
Feeling really excited about our prospects, seeing signs of something special, just need to make sure we stay up. Maybe just maybe the hurt can come to an end..
TrentVilla Posted December 5, 2012 Moderator Share Posted December 5, 2012 Swansea were the better team first 25-30 mins Guzan made some good saves But we won. So that means we were the better team with the better manager so the above is irrelevant is it not?
Morpheus
:crylaugh: Very glad to see that I've amused you. Was the laughter for my excellent player quote or you don't think those players I've mentioned would replace players in our 1st team due to having better ability? terrytini
Honestly some of you are hilarious. 'Stoke have been run really well whilst we have fallen off a cliff', 'Stoke have a much better Team' ,'half of whom would walk into ours' !!, 'how did ths happen'................ they fineshed, what, about 5 points above us last season which by common consent was pretty much our worst, in many ways, for years, and this year they will be 5 points clear of us after Saturday if we win. Hardly a catastrophe is it, and if their players are really so much better than ours PL must be doing a great job hanging on to their coattails. Perhaps a more realisitic view is we have had a little slump, they have had a little rise, there isn't much to choose, just as there isn't much to choose between a lot of Clubs, and there isn't much to choose player wise either - although ours definitely have the possibility of being around longer. roonst83
Swansea we were quite comfortable without piling in the goals Perhaps it was just me but this wasn't comfortable until Tekkers got his debut goal. It was end to end from both teams all game until then!

Our "little slump" is in it's 3rd year going strong, nothing hilarious about that.

Capped off by Lamberts masterstroke substitutions. I think you're beginning to grasp the concept now.

CI
The other thing to look at of course is trends once you have enough sample data. So having played 10 of the current top 13 we have beaten just 1 of them which makes games such as stoke & Wigan at home very important to us. It would be useful to look at trends once we have enough sample data but currently we don't. You are taking a sample from a managers first 15 games in charge of a side that is at the very beginning of a huge rebuilding exercise which any statistician would tell you is ridiculous. Did people really think that PL was going to take over, spend £18 on 8 players, integrate them instantly and start charging up the league from day one?
