The_Rev
He probably was, he was certainly signed just after Spurs sold Carrick to Manchester United. Like I said, there are literally hundreds of examples of teams selling their best players and going on to improve because they re invested wisely. Not all of those players sold will be as good as Suarez turned out to be but didn't Liverpool only buy Suarez because they were selling Torres? I know the two were together at Anfield for a couple of weeks during that January transfer window but it had been perfectly clear that Torres was off to Chelsea for a while before he actually went. Remember the fallout from that deal too? Liverpool fans who were up in arms about the sale soon forgot about it once Suarez started scoring for them. Torres having a nightmare at Chelsea probably helped too, but that's besides the point.
PaulC
His signings have generally been dreadful barring Coutinho and Sturridge. He buys AM's like Lambert buys LB's. I think Lallana will come good eventually.

Genie
UEFA are investigating them about FFP Heard this a few days ago, apparently a c£7m fine coming their way. Can't see them worrying too much about that.

TrentVilla Posted September 27, 2014 Moderator Share Posted September 27, 2014 Now they are back in Europe they are subject to UEFA's "Keeping clubs in their place" regulations or FFP to give them their official title. That means they have to submit their accounts for the last two years and agree to submit them for a period moving forward and they must fit within certain parameters on debt/spending in order to meet the rules. Some allowances are made for debts caused by infrastructure development or youth development. Liverpool appear to have spent/lost more than is allowed and thus face a fine. But its Liverpool and we all know different rules apply to Liverpool.
chappy
Expecting a lot of goals in the scouse derby today, both defences are leaky. (get your money on 0-0 now I've said that) (sorry donald)

Genie
tbh I thought this year it has been all about Stirling. Feel a bit sorry for him to be honest (relatively speaking) as there is a huge amount of pressure on him this season.
bannedfromHandV
And it's showing too, as with any young great thing in this country we put them up on a pedestal before they've even reached puberty and convince them that they're the real deal until they have a dip in form when we write them off as being shit. Richard
How long has Rogers got? Seriously he must be under pressure. They came into the season back in Europe and having finished second, their fans expectation would have been for them to win everything this season and they are not going to win everything, have had a crap start will struggle to get past the group and to be fair it is an easy group and all this on the back of Rogers spending the GDP of a small country on basically Southampton, the real Southampton outperforming the old Southampton and the club being investigated for FFP. Surely he has to be under pressure to retain his job? COme back king Kenny
PaulC
The problem with football is that as soon as a team has a bad run the manager's position comes into question. No team will make progress if they keep changing their managers. Edited October 2, 2014 by PaulC

Surely he has to be under pressure to retain his job? COme back king Kenny He has done a remarkable job to turn that club around. Has bought a fair few players and they need time to settle, escpecially the youngers like Markovic and Moreno. Lallana had little to no pre-season and is playing catch up, Sturridge has been injured. I don't think Rodgers should be under any pressure at all, only the pressure he puts on himself. He is different class, this is the first blip, but if Rogers is under pressure after the job he has done then football is well and truly ****. What happened to giving a manager and a squad time? Richard
Whether we feel he should or shouldn't be under pressure is largely irrelevant to be honest . I posted this specific section for a reason "their fans expectation would have been for them to win everything this season and they are not going to win everything" Surely the plop fans will put his position under pressure? Stevo985 Posted October 2, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted October 2, 2014 I'd be hugely surprised if they make it out the group now. 9 points is achievable, but if Basel beat Ludogorets both times then they'll already be on 9 too.
