CarewsEyebrowDesigner
Sakho and Mignolet were good buys. The rest have disappeared.

Rovers13
And this is his first years work. Coutinho and Sturridge are brilliant, but a lot of poor signings here as well. Rovers13
They're top of the league, though. Well yeah, obviously Rodgers has done a great job. But the point was that it's not a foregone conclusion they get better, partially because of the questionable transfer work. They're top of the league, though. LondonLax
He's also got the best out of Henderson when Dalglish couldn't, has gotten Suarez focus on football instead of off field incidents and has managed to incorporate Gerrard into a role where is is actually effective instead of disruptive. He's done a great job up there. Champions League football will be a test for sure but he does seem to be a tactition rather than just a motivator. Isa
Illori and Alberto are ones for the future to be fair. Strange with Aspas, good player but never really been played.

Rovers13
Not worth the money. Could say the same about sakho and maybe mignolet. (Just because he's limited in possession and wasn't much of an upgrade on reina)
PaulC
Sterling looks a fantastic prospect doesn't he. He's going to the world cup, but would you start with him?

No, but his pace and ability will cause teams havoc in the second half of games when everyone will be shattered.
Rovers13
If they win the title then they all will have been worth whatever money it cost them. This is a stupid, simplistic way of thinking. And does that include borini, who's on loan at the bottom club in the league?

(Just because he's limited in possession and wasn't much of an upgrade on reina) Allen wasn't even that expensive, when you consider that the likes of Utd sometimes end up paying almost 30m on midfielders who end up on the bench. Mignolet is a big upgrade on the error-prone Reina of last season.

And does that include borini, who's on loan at the bottom club in the league? Why do you spend money on players if not to win the league? Why do Man City spend £500m on players? Chelsea £400m? If Liverpool have spent £200m or whatever it cost them and they win the league with that squad the spending will be worth every penny.

Most of it will have been won with players brought in pre Rodgers that he got the best out of. If villa get relegated does that mean benteke was a shitty buy? Because using your logic right now, he was if that happens. Obviously, Rodgers has done a brilliant job overall, but it doesn't mean he's been perfect in every area. His transfer work has been average, pretty much everything else has been exceptional. It doesn't mean, however, that every player they bought was worth the money they spent. You tried to claim that Liverpool changing keepers wasn't worth the money. With the way the title race is going changing keepers may only need to add one or two extra points to push them over the line and what price do you put on that? It would be worth it at almost any realistic transfer cost. When you get to the top spots you start paying huge sums for only small incremental increases in output. Of course the guy is not going to be perfect, that goes without saying, but if he wins the league from 7th place last season then you wouldn't go back and change a single thing about his transfer policy even with hindsight. Who knows what unintended consequences could be thrown up by not bringing in Allan or Aspas or whoever?
Rovers13
I don't personally rate mignolet, so that's why I said that. I don't think he's as good as Guzan. All I did originally was state that they won't necessarily get better, said the transfers were a reason why, and then showed that the transfers haven't been amazing. Plus, the unintended consequences argument could be used for anything, maybe carroll was a good transfer for Liverpool because not buying him could've had "unintentional consequences."
