Zhan_Zhuang
Concrete Ron looks decent and it was a promising debut. Regardless of the doom mongerers I think there are some reasons to be cheerful; it is early days after all.
honest_bertie
Vlarr fast becoming my favourite Villa player, hard as nails, can play a bit as well and seems to genuinely care for the club he plays for and the fans. Future captain (and not to distant future I reckon)
darrenm
Realised today who Vlaar reminds me of
markavfc40
He did OK again today. The players around him though are way too inexperienced and if that is the back four for much of the season we can expect a few more spankings. He does like the odd long ball by the looks of things and isn't very accurate with them.

villanmike
I thought he did great today under the circumstances, as a lot of fans me thought the same. I think he will be a rock, Reminds me of Mellberg!
Dr_Pangloss
As said above, he did OK, certainly our best defender but he hardly had much competition for that with Clarky looking completely out of his depth there, Baker looking like a centre half being played out of position (lol) and Lowton doing half decent at best, shaky at worst. Vlaar's likeable and gives it 100%, definitely captain material.
KHV
Im unsure about him. A couple of times today he lost players and his positioning was terrible
KjParton
Clark was abismal today, Vlaar was decent from what i saw
Bazdavies79
Clark not getting any better. For a tall lad it's amazing how many headers he doesn't win, also positionally poor. Baker looks a better CB. Vlaar looked ok today. We need Dunne in there, never rated Dunne as a good premiership defender, but he is premiership quality at least. CI
I'd like to see Baker alongside Vlaar.
smetrov
looked good enough. But not Laursen calibre - but for £3m Im more than pleased.
parisvilla
Regrettably when we have new signings people tend to rate their performances on what we want to see as opposed to what actually happened. Clark was absolutely diabolical throughout but Vlaar really wasn't a great deal better. Doesn't look dominant in the air (admittedly he has faced Carlton Cole and Fellaini in consecutive weeks), looks fairly slow on the turn and not particularly good at anticipating striker movement. Bazdavies79
I'd like to see Baker alongside Vlaar.Baker looked ok at times, not a LB but a strong tackler - could become a decent CB in time. We need Dunne to sort that mess out though, never thought I'd say that.
KjParton
Baker definitely not a LB thats for sure - but isn't it odd, how when Clark got sent off, Lichaj moved into LB and Baker to CB we seemed to be better? possibly just my look on things? A.V.F.C
Hmm, this Clark thing isn't going well thus far.
KjParton
The good thing is with Clark out for 3 games, You can guarantee the partnership now will be Vlaar - Baker EDIT - just remembered he played Lowton at CB in some games. Not sure whether i'd be comfortable with that.
