VillaChris
Surely Arsenal's priority is a striker? They need a new CB from somewhere as they sold Vermaelaen and Sagna and just replaced them with Chambers who's still learning the position. Koscienly is picking up a few injuries aswell so I do think they'll sign one today, just hope it isn't Ron.
Villain4Life
If that Twitter rumour is true, what a scum way of doing business ... bidding for one of (or THE) key players so close before the window closes.
Richard
If we get 12M for him and can get Cleverly and Alderweireld (sic) for that then that's good business

Popular Post Swerbs
Not going anywhere. Ron Vlaar’s agent has insisted the Holland central defender is not expected to leave Aston Villa on transfer deadline day despite reports that Arsenal are interested in signing him. Vlaar has only one year remaining of his contract at Villa Park and has been linked with a move away all summer after some impressive displays at the World Cup. Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger is reported to have made an enquiry as he seeks a replacement for Thomas Vermaelen, who joined Barcelona earlier this month. However, Vlaar’s agent has denied his client will be on the move. “There is no truth in any of the rumours. He still has a contract with Villa for one year so he will stay there,” said Arnold Oosterveer. “There is nothing happening with him today.” Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have both made enquiries about signing Matija Nastasic from Manchester City. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/sep/01/ron-vlaar-aston-villa-arsenal-transfer

lapal_fan
I've said before and I'll say it again. I'd rather see him leave for free next summer after a good last season with us than get some paltry sum of ~5m and leave us short. Rons not the sort of player to strop, he'll just want to play his football.

PieFacE Posted September 1, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted September 1, 2014 I'd love him to commit his future to the club by signing a new contract but I just don't see that happening. I think he probably wanted a move but either no one has come in for him or we have refused to sell him.
Cliffy Biro
I cant see Lambert or Lerner letting him go unless its an absurd fee and they can go and get someone else in. I'd hate to see such a vital player go and be a bench warmer at Arsenal anyway i'd rather lose him on a free in the summer and keep him for this year because we seem to actually have a bit of stability in the team right now and i'd be gutted to lose it just as it starts. StanBalaban
Ron seems happy with his football, the club and knows he's adored here. His family seem to have settled in the area and the defence looks like it's a pleasure to play in. I would assume that that counts for a lot in, not just football, but any career. AntrimBlack
I think it would be possible that, at his age, he might sign a new contract that would keep him here to finish his top flight career with us.
a m ole
Would Ron sign a bumper contract with an agreement that if any offer came in next year we would accept it? To honour us and ensure we don't lose him for nothing.

To honour us and ensure we don't lose him for nothing. Yeah I think if we offered him more, but with a release clause of sorts, then he'd probably be more likely to sign. He's getting a pay rise, could still get his big move and we get money for him leaving rather than nothing. Win all round.
