Popular Post StefanAVFC Posted August 27, 2014 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted August 27, 2014 http://www.redcafe.net/threads/ron-vlaar.392298/page-7 What baffles me is that the current United formation gets so much attention and how specialist the CB's need to be.Yet Ron effin Vlaar managed to play pretty well in a back 3 at the WC! so it can't be that difficult. Hes pure s hite. Ron Vlaar can play in a back 3 but no one at Manchester United can Ahhhh God...Game's gone mad Vlaar is utter wank. Would be the weakest of all our cental defenders by a distance. He was alright at the World Cup, but jesus, have you watched him for Villa? They concede far too many goals. I'm stunned he's even a topic of conversation. Some people do our lads a disservice at times, they really do. Yes, I've also watched him personally at Villa. He's been shite. Having lived with a Villa fan for a year and being forced to watch some of their matches, he strikes me as more of a Tal Ben Haim then a Cahill Deluded funts. Lose 4-0 to a L1 side and Vlaar would still be 'their weakest central defender by some distance' I hate them even more now. I can't wait until they're completely irrelevant. Keep at it agent LVG.

villalad21
Man Utd fans are fed up with Ferdinand - Vidic throughout the years. By those standards, nobody are going to be good enough.
rodders0223
Yeah but he had a decent World Cup so now he is the best defender ever and is worth £40m. He is bang **** average.

In fairness, if you're a side that wants to be challenging for the title, you'd probably be a little bit alarmed at being linked with a defender who has regularly played in a relegation-threatened team that concedes a lot of goals. Yeah but he had a decent World Cup so now he is the best defender ever and is worth £40m. Said no-one ever. There was a quote on the other page saying we should be holding out for £10m + Welbeck + Kagawa. That equates to about £40m right there. Also people mentioning Man United spending £60m on Di Maria ( A CL winning attacker ) like Vlaar is in the same bracket. He is average and has been part of one of the worst back fours we have ever had. Can you blame man united fans for thinking he is not good enough for them. They should be going out and getting geniune world class talent. Vlaar will not improve them, no matter how important he is to us. ...and why do people get so butt hurt when another forum's fans don't rate their player??? rodders0223
Take out a few games at the World Cup and base solely on what you have seen in a Villa shirt would you say he is Manchester United class? Also, if he was, then why haven't they signed him, his international manager who worked with him so closely? Year left on his deal, we have never been able to hold off a club like United signing up our stars

Popular Post Richard
Personally i couldnt give a shit if he improves them or not. He is a bloody good defender and a steal at the money we paid for him The fact he is playing so well for us at the moment is down to the fact we are seeing his true class now that he is not playing with baker or clark who are not good enough quite frankly. He is good for us If they want him then they'll have to pay through the nose considering the desperate shite that they are and then if he improves them or not is none of my concern.

Vive_La_Villa
You know what. If Vlaar is not good enough for United than we should be very happy about that. He is our Captain and crucial to our team. Screw what United or anybody else things about him. We need him big time.
StefanAVFC Posted August 27, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted August 27, 2014 Guzan was part of a defence that conceded so many goals. He's bang average too. Oh and Benteke was part of a team that almost got relegated. Get rid ASAP.

Maybe he hasn't been approached because Utd have made it pretty clear they'd rather make marquee signings for positions they're already competitive in than address the obvious deficiencies in their squad. Probably because it would involve being a bit more utilitarian and having to sign one or two "unknowns" like Vlaar, which as those RedCafe quotes show, will go down badly with a fanbase whose expectations have no bearing on the situation they find themselves in. This is exactly why I think they haven't approached him. They know he is good enough but pride is stopping them from making the bid. If they get desperate they will swallow that pride and approach us IMO. Hope not though. You have to remember. This is a fan base that feel they can still win the league.
