villan_007
The only plus with Vlaars injuries are they are all related to the speed of the prem. Usually pulls a calf or slight hammy twinge.
Straggler
We really should have got a loan in to cover for Vlaar. It is the biggest single point of failure in our team.
Harry
We really should have got a loan in to cover for Vlaar. It is the biggest single point of failure in our team. Agreed it was very short sighted not to get a loan in. My guess they hoped Vlaar would be OK and are banking on getting Okore back before the end of the season. Another example of a penny pinching gamble?
Stevo985 Posted February 6, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted February 6, 2014 I imagine they decided they had 4 dedicated centrebacks on the books, plus 2 or 3 others who can play there at a push (Lowton, Herd, Bertrand) so signing another CB probably wasn't a priority. Cliffy Biro
So it looks like hes a doubt for the weekend but gabby is back, shame as we look a different team with the two involved.
Mantis
I'm hopeful that Vlaar being just doubtful means it might just be this one game he's out for.
Nigel Posted February 6, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted February 6, 2014 (edited) Really could do with Vlaar back Sat, to help deal with West hams beautifully elegant passing moves! Edited February 6, 2014 by Nigel
samjp26
Doubtful but they'll assess tomorrow, at least it seems like he'll be back for the next game
MessiWillSignForVilla
Considering he went off with a twinge and is doubtful for the weekend, I'm gonna guess we'll next see him against Cardiff. Hamstring injuries are dodgy, but if he came off straight away after a slight strain, there's a very good chance he won't be out for long.
danceoftheshamen
Hmmn, thats bad news, can't see us beating West Ham now as it's almost inevitable they'll get at least 2 goals now, unless we get three or more i suppose which our strikers are capable of but not so sure against West Ham's defence. .. Can see them just shutting us out and catching us on the break a couple of times.
AVTuco Posted February 6, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted February 6, 2014 I say rest Ron on Sat, Clark and Baker can take care of West Ham.
MessiWillSignForVilla
Without Carroll, I'm not sure West Ham have the strikers that are able to bully Clark and Baker, I'm sure they'll be fine.

I'd say if Carroll gets to play he'll play as he'll bully the others hopefully not but I have no faith in Clark/baker together!

lmarsha_926
Two games in 4 days we need Vlaar fit for Tuesday. I would not risk him
jayEm
Yeah I'd rather have Vlaar wait until Tuesday than rush back and do himself more harm.
HeyAnty
Thought Carroll was banned?? He is banned, regardless of their legal shenanigans. If we beat west ham on sat and they go to court and get a ruling in their favour, will we have to play them again
VillanousOne
I love Vlaar but we need to learn to win without him. Baker has been pretty bad this season. I can easily see Lambert panicking again and playing a flat back 5 Guzan Bacuna - Lowton - Baker - Clark - Bertrand Westwood - Delph Weimann - Benteke - Gabby The combo of Bacuna and Lowton on the right does allow options going fwd as well I suppose.
