Also on #AVFC front, like Fletcher, told James Milner to Villa a non starter. Gather Milner expects to be at #MCFC on September 1

Bloody Milner. seems all he cares about is the £££... and winning titles... and competing in the champions league... and playing with some of the best players in the world.

Can't he see that it would be a better move to come back to a club that may or may not finish top ten and has Alan Hutton playing for them... for shame

Seen reports we are after Naughton. Surely not with Lowton signed?

He's coming from league 1 to the prem and looked very average against forest.

Maybe Lambert didn't bring him in to be our number 1 RB.

I would hope we'll start addressing the attacking side of the team soon.

Are you suggesting Milner isn't good enough for the top level, because I couldn't disagree more. I wouldn't be surprised to see him at United bossing their central mid in the near future. If I was Fergie I'd be on him like a fly on shit.

A Star for a mid table team like Villa but a squad player at the highest level. Which to be fair to him is still some achievement. I think his performances for both Man City and England have proven this to be the case. For 25M you should be signing a World beater.

There is no person in the world that would turn down 60K pay rise and the chance to win things at the highest level. Unless they completely lacked ambition of course.
steve bull, le tissier...
Le Tissier did suffer a total lack of ambition.

I am actually pretty glad he did suffer it. Southampton built their team around him therefore he could showcase his talent to the maximum. Brilliant player.

If he had gone to a bigger club that would not have happened.

The sacrifice is he never won anything. But he is Xavi's boyhood idol.

i'm not sure he'd see it as a total lack of ambition! he was the best english player of his generation IMO.

as for bull, weren't inter in for him at one point? pretty sure there was a serie a offer. my memory isn't the best though!

Le Tissier was just lazy from what I remember. Never really looked in the best shape. Its a real shame IMO because the guy was blessed with an amazing amount of natural talent. If he had the attitude to match I think he could have gone on to be one of the world greats of the game.

I liked his laziness. It was part of the enigma.

He changed games and carried Southampton season after season.

True cult hero. Genuinely not sure if a top team would have given him a free role as Soton did.

Aston Villa looking at PSV's Jetro Willems #AVFC

Probably one of those bollocks accounts.. but he is a left back.

Didn't have the best of euros but he is still 18.

Would be quite interesting if true. Didn't seem too good at actually defending but was like Usain Bolt going forward IIRC. I would imagine he would have bags of potential, perhaps PL could mould him into an all round performer.

Would anyone be happy with Keiran Richardson as our left back?

Good in position, quick, can play LM too if need be.

I would. Earlier in the window there was talk of a straight swap with warnock for richardson. I would take that anyday.

Not a bad shout but is he actually a good defender or is he just a stop=gap? Doesn't seem to have held down the position at Sunderland so I'd be wary.

If I was playing for Villa and the likes of Man City came calling you would have to presume I was pretty good. I would stay at Villa and that alone would attract other big names to the club and we would eventually win the league.

And yes I have lay awake at night thinking about this. :winkold:

How about if you were playing for Everton and Man City came calling?

A number of people wouldn't leave the club they love but if it wasn't a club you love most players would take the massive pay rise and chance to win the league.

You're right, if I was at Everton I would leave, but at the time we were talking about whether or not you would leave the team you support/love.

Incidentally, if Villa were languishing near the bottom of League 1 then I would leave for a team like Man Utd(I assume if City want me then Utd would too) Otherwise that really would be a lack of ambition!

I thought he was very poor at Forest. These signings aren't very inspiring. I can see us struggling again next season.

**** Jetro Willems makes Danny Rose look accomplished as a player. Poor kid was out of his depth at Euros.

If we're after Naughton it's to cover both fullback positions. Just as Lowton covers right back, centre half and midfield, Herd right back, right midfield and defensive midfield, Lichaj both full back positions and so on...
