mjmooney Posted April 9, 2013 VT Supporter Share Posted April 9, 2013 It's what you make of it (obviously). For me, the benefits outweigh the annoyances. I must be an annoyance Don't take it so personally, shitface. Seriously, too many FB friends are a minor annoyance. VTers in particular tend to be people I don't know in Real Life, so unless there's some specific non-Villa thing we have in common (particular music enthusiasms, say), there's not much point in them being there, beyond the odd joke or funny picture. So when I have a cull, VTers tend to be the first to go. Alternatively, I'm just a word removed.
ender4
If twitter is better than Facebook , why do some people set their twitter feeds to appear on their Facebook time line ? ah, i didn't know you could do that. that explains all the hashtags on FB. ender4
Twitter is more popular now No it isn't. legov
Facebook - 1.06 Billion active users (MAU) That is just stunning. Although come to think of it, what do they define as an "active user?"
Zatman
Deleted it a month ago and have not missed it. Its encouraged me to be more sociable with my friends rather than rely on it to socialise with them. It is what you make of it though but as I thought 90% of it was inane drivel, I think I made the right decision. but think of your Farm its the thing i hate most is farmville requests

Jimzk5
i closed mine down a few days ago, i signed in and just looked at my timeline, read a few of the posts and split them into 2 groups the boring words removed - mainly girls i went to school with who left school and immediatly started a family, so there status is always very predictable, every day 8am - hope the weathers not too bad when im doing the school run lol 9.30 - henry and stephen at school now, missing them already, oh well best get the housework done 1.00pm - weight watchers yoghurt for dinner! i will get this weight off eventually! 3pm - off to pick my henry and stephen up from school that was what one of my fb friends put on there everyday i can remember and the other group i devided them into were the attention seekers, who put stuff like this on such a shit day today fed up with all this cant deal with this anymore whats the point? all of those were written by 4 different people on there timeline in the last 7 days, just attention seeking, desperatly waiting for someone to post a reply like "whats up mate?" i realized the only people on my facebook i actually only ever talk too, are the 3 mates i go out drinking with. ill stick to twitter from now on
mjmooney Posted April 9, 2013 VT Supporter Share Posted April 9, 2013 Maybe FB is more use to older people like me - we're less likely to see many of our friends on a daily basis. Many of my FB contacts are friends and family who live in different parts of the country (and world for that matter). And old friends I haven't seen for 30 years or more, but enjoy catching up with. Plus some special interest groups (music, etc.) But I also use it in a Twitter sort of way for messaging. It works for me the way I want it to. When you read that stuff you you should go back in there with the dark whispers to push them over the edge. Like: "Can't deal with this anymore" "Yeah, mate, you can't and shouldn't have to. I spoke to your cat and he said he'll be fine when you've gone, said he'll dine on bird and rodent every day. Told me you were really starting to bore him now with your shit and if he had thumbs he'd have tied himself a noose by now. He said he'd throw himself off a building but there's no point, he'd only land on his **** feet. So, since your now even boring your pets, just do it. Hose, car, exhaust pipe, gaffer tape and a full tank. See ya."

Voinjama
Those attention seeking statuses are so annoying. As for the facebook active users, many people have more then 1 account. I have 4, 1 is the real me and the other 3 are for activities I won't go into on here. I am not on Twitter and I don't think i ever will go over to that. I have noticed a recent phenomena on facebook which is to put the ultrascan of the baby in the womb on facebook. So many girls doing that.

This I did a FB friend location thing once and I think a good 30% , maybe more , live abroad ...I guess id call a lot of them acquaintances rather than friends but even so I enjoy seeing what they are getting up to And I'd have never found my old school friends who I'd lost touch with without it and although my liver may not thank FB , I certainly do

Though, I don't think 30% of my friends live abroad, unless I count the ones I've got on here, but a fair few do and it's nice to talk to them from time. And those friends you lost contact with. That's what I mainly use fb for. And I can't see anything bad with it. As someone said earlier, it is what you make of it.
MrDuck
Since discovering the FB Purity plugin (http://www.fbpurity.com) , facebook is far more bearable... no more ads, sponsored posts, game requests etc etc. Cleans it up a treat
