KJT123
He's probably taken a wage cut hasn't he? 30k seems feasible.
bannedfromHandV
Happy with this, if nothing else it may provoke the likes of vlaar, Grealish and Delph to sign up too
Mr_Dogg
Was never any doubt, the most likely of the 4 contract situations to be resolved. Hopefully gives him a performance boost.
LoughboroughLion
He's probably taken a wage cut hasn't he? 30k seems feasible. Hopefully, it seems fair to extend his contract but reduce his wage. I like him and it's not my money.

Popular Post Woody1000
Well done Gabby! Glad he's signed, couldn't give a toss really how much his weekly wage is. I don't think he'll ever be Mr Consistent for us, but still gives us moments to remember.

Oaks
As long as the deal is more viable than his last contract then it's alright by me. There's still a decent premier league player in there.
MikeVilla0012
Massively disappointed. Hope he's taken a big wage cut or the deal really isn't worth it IMO.
djdabush
Not sure why there's surprise over people being happy he's signed. He's a Villa fan who has been with us for his entire career. He's not as consistent as he should be and he's definitely a player who may well find himself warming the bench for at least part of the season but ultimately fans will always be keen to have players around the club who have a connection to it and have come through the ranks. VillaChris
Hmmm bit surprised at this as had the feeling this would be his last year here. For what he's produced over the last 18 months he's very fortunate to get this deal which will take him into his 30s. Hopefully he'll continue his performances to a similar standard of the Hull game but not holding my breath.

CVByrne
He's probably taken a wage cut hasn't he? 30k seems feasible. He is most certainly one of the top earners and deservedly so. I can't imagine he has taken a pay cut. In region of 50k per week is fair and what he's worth for all he's contributed to the club. Hopefully he is the first of the contract extensions being signed this month.
P3te
Are you **** serious. I'm staggered that people are happy with this. I'm staggered that a VILLA fan is UNHAPPY with this! Why? Gabby sums up everything that's been wrong with the club the last 5 years - average payer with no real skill given a long contact for no end product
Popular Post CVByrne
It's amazing how people don't see the effect he has more than his simple goals and assist rates in our team. By having him in our side opponents fear pace and counter attack so sit slightly deeper to defend. Not giving space for him to run into. Which means we can then set up accordingly. Midfield is closer to their defence, we've some guile now with Grealish and Cole. Set piece threat with N'Zogbia, Westwood. Plus Senderos with Vlaar and Benteke or Kozak poses a big danger from set pieces in the box. If we had no pace threat a defence will play a higher line. Meaning more ground to work through to get to goal. Gabby is invaluable to us.
NoelVilla
Better business than spending 12M for someone like Shane Long.
